What if public art could tell the story of our shared humanity?

On World Refugee Day, help create a living monument to compassion, peace, justice, and human rights.

The Posts for Peace and Justice workshops invite community members of all ages to contribute artwork, handprints, messages, and creativity that will become part of Georgia's first Compassion Corridor.

This is more than an art project. It is an opportunity to reflect on the values that connect us across cultures, backgrounds, and life experiences.

Join us at Refuge Coffee in Clarkston and help create something that will inspire residents and visitors for years to come.

Together, we sow seeds of compassion, peace, and justice.

Today we honor Juneteenth.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free. Juneteenth commemorates that moment and the generations of courage, resilience, faith, and perseverance that followed.

While Juneteenth is a uniquely African American celebration rooted in Black history and the ongoing pursuit of freedom, its lessons speak to all of us.

Freedom matters.
Human dignity matters.
Democracy matters.
Compassion matters.

Compassion asks us to recognize that our lives are interconnected. None of us flourishes alone. The expansion of freedom for one group strengthens the promise of freedom for all. When barriers to dignity and opportunity are removed, communities become healthier, stronger, and more just.

Juneteenth invites us to celebrate Black history, Black culture, Black joy, and Black resilience. It also invites us to reflect honestly on our nation's history and the unfinished work of creating communities where every person can thrive.

As we mark this day, let us do so with humility and respect. We do not need to co-opt someone else's story to honor it. We can listen, learn, celebrate, and stand in solidarity while recognizing the unique significance of this day to African American communities.

At Compassionate Atlanta, we believe compassion and freedom are deeply connected. A compassionate society is one where every person is seen, valued, and afforded the opportunity to live with dignity and belonging.

May we continue the work of building communities where freedom is expanded, humanity is honored, and our shared future is shaped by justice, compassion, and hope.

Due to inclement weather, our No More Liddering Summer Solstice ArtWalk installation has been postponed.

The good news? It is absolutely worth the wait.

Join us on Friday, June 26 as we come together with our wonderful partners at Roof Top Trails, Decatur's Sustainable Premium Goods Delivery Service, to create community, spark conversations, celebrate public art, and reimagine what is possible when compassion and environmental stewardship meet.

Together we will help assemble our fully upcycled People for Peace installation, part of the DeKalb County Compassion Corridor. This community created artwork reminds us that we are connected to one another and to the Earth we share.

Come meet your neighbors.
Come add your energy to a growing movement for beauty, belonging, and environmental responsibility.

The Summer Solstice reminds us that growth takes time. Sometimes the brightest ideas need a little extra sunshine before they bloom.

There may be no more meaningful place for this project than Clarkston, a community known around the world for welcoming refugees and immigrants from dozens of countries and cultures.

On Thursday June 18, 2026: 6 to 10 pm, join us during Decatur's Summer Solstice ArtWalk as No More Liddering assembles People for Peace, an upcycled installation that celebrates our connection to one another and the Earth.
