The General Election is right around the corner, and two seats on the Georgia Public Service Commission are up for election. These are the people who decide how much your electricity costs and where it comes from.

Registering to vote is the first step in the fight for a Georgia where all people live safely in a healthy environment, a stable climate, and resilient communities.

Together with Adamah ATL and Repair the World Atlanta, we collected 374 pounds of trash during our Reverse Tashlich River Cleanup this weekend!

What an incredibly meaningful way to celebrate the Jewish High Holy Days!

Last Saturday, we were grateful to support a Chattahoochee Riverkeeper cleanup with the Refugee Women's Network at Utoy Creek.

The group removed an estimated 450 lbs of trash, including 16 TIRES (people dispose of those old tires differently, PLEASE)!

Join us in welcoming a new Communications Fellow to the GIPL team!

Jacquelyn Clark will provide support for the communications team to help tell the stories of faith communities, advocates, and changemakers working toward environmental justice. She is entering her final semester at Georgia State University, where she is completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism with a minor in Human Rights and Democracy. Her passion for human rights and democracy led her to GIPL, where she is excited to be part of meaningful, community-centered work that turns value into action.

Last weekend on the coast, GIPL participated in this year’s River’s Alive Cleanup, bringing volunteers together on land and water to help protect Savannah’s waterways.

Volunteers cleaned along the Wilshire Canal and Holland Canal, while kayakers tackled the water cleanup at Bowles C. Ford Park. Together, volunteers removed over 547 pounds of litter and debris, including several tires, helping keep trash out of our rivers, marshes, and coastal
ecosystems.

Our second Power-Wise Grant cycle opens TODAY!

This matching grant provides up to $7,000 annually to congregations to support energy efficiency and Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) within faith communities.

This grant cycle is open to congregations who got an audit in the past five years but did not apply during the summer period. The application for this grant cycle will close on Nov. 15, 2026.

☀️ When your congregation installs solar it does not only help the planet and utility bills, it also supports our local economy!

Last week, alongside Public Service Commissioner Peter Hubbard and Dunwoody United Methodist Church's Environmental Stewardship Committee, GIPL's Hannah Shultz and Rev. Jay Horton toured the Qcells North America plant near Cartersville. This is the largest solar panel manufacturing facility on the continent and it's right here in Georgia employing over 2,000 people!
