Reactivating the education of refugee girls. Global Village Project (GVP) is a special purpose middle school located in Decatur, Georgia.

Our mission is to reactivate the schooling of refugee girls so that they can access all the benefits of a holistic education. Our program is designed specifically to equip recently arrived refugee girls with the academic and social knowledge and skills needed for successful study in a high school and beyond. Many of our students have experienced interruptions and gaps in their formal education and

Caps in the air. Hopeful hearts. Dreams within reach.

Our 2026 graduates come from different countries, speak different languages, and carry different stories. Some arrived from Afghanistan, Congo, Syria, Guatemala, and beyond. Yet they share a common journey: rebuilding their education, discovering their strengths, and daring to dream bigger for their futures.

Today, we celebrate how far they have come. From learning a new language to building confidence, friendships, and new opportunities, our girls have shown us what resilience looks like.

To the Class of 2026: we are so proud of you! Thank you for inspiring us every day.

A girl can be anything she wants to be. And we can’t wait to see what comes next. ✨

Earlier last year, selected Global Village Project as the beneficiary of their 2026 fundraising efforts through Furnish the Future in support of our New Village 100 Capital Campaign.

At the beginning of this year, they hosted a beautiful event bringing together community members, supporters, and partners who believe in the power of education and opportunity for refugee girls.

A few weeks ago, their team presented GVP with the funds raised through the event, and we are still deeply grateful for the generosity, care, and community behind it all.

Every partnership like this brings us closer to our new school: a place intentionally designed for refugee girls to experience learning, belonging, healing, and opportunity.

Thank you again to Cathedral Giving By Design and to everyone who was part of this incredible community effort. Your generosity, support, and belief in our girls are helping make this future possible. 💖✨

Over the years, we have met hundreds of girls.

Different countries. Different journeys.
But so many shared beginnings.

Stories of interruption. Of uncertainty. Of starting over in a new place, a new language, a new life.

And then… stories of growth. Of confidence. Of belonging. Of becoming.

Because behind every face you see here, there are so many more.
So many refugee girls walking this same path.
And so much potential waiting to be seen.

“A girl can be as powerful as she wants to be.”

This is why we do this work. 💜
And it only continues because of a community that believes in her.

We invite you to be part of it!

Home can live in many places. Sometimes, it lives in a recipe.

At this year’s Tribute to Education, our students shared pieces of home through recipe postcards inspired by the meals, memories, and traditions they carry with them.

Each one is more than a recipe. It is culture, family, memory, and love.

We’re honored to share this collection with you.

To know Global Village Project over the past 12 years is, in many ways, to know at lunchtime.

Since 2014, they have been extraordinary partners, generously providing in-kind lunches for our students and offering something just as meaningful: a place where our girls felt welcomed, included, and part of something bigger. For many students, those daily walks to campus became more than a lunch break.

Staff, volunteers, visitors, and supporters became part of that tradition. So many in our Village have had the joy of walking alongside the girls there and back, sharing conversations, hearing stories, laughing together, and standing side by side in both the salad and french fries lines. In those simple moments, relationships were built and memories were made.

Yesterday, we said goodbye to a chapter that has meant so much to us, sharing our official last lunch at Agnes Scott. As we prepare to move into our new school this fall, we know how much we will miss the familiar walks, the warm welcomes, and the community that met us there day after day.

But we carry forward all that was given: the kindness, the friendships, the laughter, the meals, and the feeling of being embraced by neighbors who cared deeply for our students.

Thank you, Agnes Scott College, for being such a beautiful part of the Global Village Project story!

Last Sunday, our Village gathered once again for our annual Tribute to Education, an evening filled with generosity, joy, and the kind of love that defines Global Village Project.

Tribute is more than a fundraiser. It is a reminder of what is possible when a community comes together to invest in girls, in education, and in brighter futures.

At Global Village Project, students find more than a school. They find a second home, a safe and welcoming place where they can heal, learn, grow, and begin again with hope.

This year’s Tribute was a beautiful reflection of that spirit. Every smile, embrace, story, and shared moment carried the heart of our mission and the strength of our Village.

To everyone who joined us, supported us, and believes in the power and potential of our students: thank you. Because of you, more girls will continue to find belonging, opportunity, and a place to support their dreams.

With grateful hearts, thank you for being part of our Village. ✨ 🤍

For Umaira, soccer is more than a game. It’s what she misses most about home, being in the street, running around with friends. It’s also an outlet.

Last week, Global Village Project was featured by in a story about something simple, but powerful: girls finding a shared language through soccer.

Through our transformative partnership with , our students come together to play, many for the first time since leaving their home countries. What looks like a game is also something deeper: release, connection, and a chance to just be kids.

This is part of our model, supporting not only academic growth, but healing, confidence, and belonging.

Thank you to for capturing the heart and impact of our mission with such care.
