What do the blues and Broadway have in common? Jazz and rock & roll? They were all born where two rivers met…the Black and Jewish American experience. 🎶
Led by celebrated vocalist Karla Harris and acclaimed pianist Joe Alterman, this concert reveals the unlikely partnership between two communities whose struggles and creativity collided. Karla and Joe trace the journey from Harlem to Tin Pan Alley, the Delta to the Brill Building, showing how rhythm and resilience shaped not just the music we love, but what it means to be American. It's the untold origin story behind some of America’s sweetest sounds.
