Career Academies of Decatur

Health Science Medical Interns started the Pre-K assessments today at BEST Preschool. Such a wonderful day for our Career Academies of Decatur students.

Happy National Custodian Day to Ms Susan and Mr Chris!! ✨ OUR SCHOOL SHINES BECAUSE OF YOU! ✨💙
You guys keep our halls shining, our classrooms sparkling, our school running smoothly—and somehow always seem to be there when we need you most! From the big jobs to the little things that often go unnoticed, you make a BIG difference every single day. We are so thankful for the hard work, heart, and pride you bring to Career Academies of Decatur. You are an important part of what makes our school special! We appreciate you more than you know! ✨💙

Today, Miss Sylvia Miller visited with some of our Health Science HOSA students. She was able to discuss her nonprofit “Elijah’s Blankets”. Students were able to make cards for the parents of babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Huntsville Hospital. They were also able to watch a tutorial on how to make blankets that will be delivered to the babies in the NICU this year. We are excited to have this as one of our service projects for HOSA.

👨‍🍳🍝 Learning, experimenting, and growing in the CAD Culinary Academy with Chef Echols (Chef D)!

Today’s experimental lab was all about GNOCCHI! Students were engaged, attentive, and—most importantly—not afraid to fail! 🙌

Great learning happens when students are willing to try something new, make adjustments, learn from mistakes, and keep going. That’s exactly what we saw in the kitchen today! 🔥👩‍🍳

We love seeing our students build their skills and confidence through hands-on learning!

🔐📚 Learning by doing at CAD!

Today, our Teacher Academy students-Led by Ms. Maples- put a fun twist on their lesson about the early beginnings of education by taking on an Escape Room challenge! 🧩⏳

Students had to work together, think critically, solve clues, and put their knowledge to the test to “escape!” We love seeing our future educators experience creative teaching strategies they can one day use in their own classrooms! 🍎✏️

Great job, Teacher Academy! 👏🎉

A HUGE thank you to John Wilson from NAHA (North Alabama Homebuilding Academy) for coming to Mrs. Busard’s class to teach students Construction Math and High Rise Level Tower.

CAD Engineering students working on soldering skills. 👏👏👏

💈✨ Now THIS is what career exploration looks like! ✨💇‍♀️
Our Barbering & Cosmetology students had an amazing day at Drake State Technical College!
Students had the chance to put their skills to work with hands-on demonstrations, showcase their creativity and talent, and tour the entire Drake State campus. What a great way to see their classroom learning come to life while exploring what’s possible after high school! We value giving our students opportunities to learn by doing, make connections, and see themselves in their future careers. 🙌
A heartfelt THANK YOU to the Drake State team for welcoming our students, investing in their futures, and making them feel so special! The future is BRIGHT, and these students are ready for it! 💈✂️✨

A huge thank you to Zac Kimbrough and Joey Cantrell with Constellium for spending time with our Precision Machining and Industrial Maintenance students today!

We love having our industry partners come into the classroom to connect with our students and share the many career opportunities available right here in our community. These conversations help students see how the skills they are learning today can lead to successful careers tomorrow.

We appreciate Constellium’s continued investment in our students and their futures! 🔧⚙️
