We’ll be honest, we weren’t totally sure what Crystal was cooking for MakerLab: 250 at Decatur Makers… but we had faith. Then she said campers’ final projects would be on display at the . Okay wait—what is she up to? Then we saw the demos. Um. Yeah. This is next level.

Past: Laser-cut layered medallion, inspired by the Medal of Honor + Hidden Figures
Present: 3D print + resin, featuring a Waymo stranded in flooded Atlanta streets
Future: “River Guardian” — creative writing → AI art prompts + multimedia collage + speaker with recorded music & sound = full multisensory experience

Campers choose a theme, pick a medium, and build with real tools + real guidance. Crystal made these demo pieces just to get ideas flowing 🔥

🔨✨ Sometimes the best projects are the ones that improve the makerspace itself!

This weekend, a few intrepid volunteers rolled up their sleeves and gave our work tables a much-needed refresh. From CNC resurfacing and good old-fashioned hand planing to a fresh coat of paint, these tables are looking like new and ready for a summer full of making.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated their time and skills to help keep our shared workspace safe, functional, and inspiring for the entire community. ❤️
