Meet one of our resident at OurCommunity, Kenny 💚

After losing his family support system, Kenny wandered the streets of Dallas while living with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges that made everyday life difficult to navigate.

Kenny came to OurCalling for meals, showers, and care. But every night, he returned to the same unsafe environment and the same cycle of survival.

Over time, one of our Care Ministers built a relationship with Kenny through patience, consistency, and the love of Jesus. That trust opened the door for healing, stability, and eventually a permanent home at OurCommunity.

Today, Kenny is surrounded by residents and staff who faithfully walk alongside him and surround him with the love of Jesus. For the first time in years, he is living in true community. 🙌

We are deeply grateful for their recent gift to support OurCommunity operations, but even more thankful for the lasting impact they’ve made across Dallas through their prayers, encouragement, and faithful support over the years.

Can we take a moment to brag about our chef, Charles?

He’s an incredible cook, but what truly sets him apart is his devotion to Jesus and the way he cares for every neighbor who walks through our doors. 💚

Before a single plate is served, Charles covers each meal in prayer, asking that it would nourish both body and soul. He cooks with the same care and excellence for our guests as he does for his own family. At OurCalling, our guests can have as many plates as they’d like, and Charles makes sure there is always enough prepared. Thank you, Charles, for how you love our neighbors.

What a sweet afternoon at OurCommunity yesterday. Our team spent time with residents gathered around chess boards, puzzles, and dominoes. ♟️🧩🎲 It was the kind of afternoon that reminds you how good it is to be in community. 💚💚💚

For years, Carmen was a familiar face at OurCalling.

She would come in, navigating homelessness alongside battling dementia. What we didn’t know was that her family in Chicago was desperately searching for her.

When an on-site partner saw her missing person flyer on Facebook, everything changed. We were able to connect with Carmen’s family, and soon after, they flew from Chicago to OurCalling to bring her home.

Stories like Carmen’s remind us that being seen can be the first step toward being found.

Our Women’s Center is a sacred space. It’s a place where our women can escape the harshness of the streets and find a moment of peace.

Every day, volunteers help make that space feel safe, warm, and welcoming. Through simple presence, listening ears, and consistent care, you remind our guests that they are seen, valued, and not alone.
