Last Saturday, you could feel Camp Roots + Wings coming to life — one conversation, one reunion, and one excited camper at a time.
Together with our incredible partner Sylvaneers, we hosted an Open House for Camp Roots + Wings — a 4-day/3-night summer camp experience for youth in foster and kinship care, happening July 19–22.
While enjoying lawn games, crafts, snacks, and bubbles, former campers and future potential campers had the chance to meet this year's cast of amazing counselors, explore what camp will look like, ask questions, and start imagining themselves there. Caregivers had time to connect with the camp directors, learn more about the experience, and determine whether Camp Roots + Wings is the right fit for their child(ren).
And the best part? You could feel the excitement building.
Kids who came in unsure left feeling more comfortable, confident, and excited about heading to camp next month. Friends from last summer reconnected and immediately started reminiscing about their favorite camp memories — the meals, the laughter, the cannonballs into the pool, and all the little moments that made camp feel special.
We are so grateful to Sylvaneers for helping create a space where children and caregivers can feel prepared, welcomed, and excited for what is ahead.
If you are interested in learning more about camp for your child or possibly volunteering at camp, please reach out to Kiara at [email protected].

The Ambassador Project is growing! And so is the love and community surrounding foster and kinship families across Colorado.
Since launching in Weld County in 2022, the Ambassador Project — a partnership with Be the Source — is now active in 14 of Colorado’s 23 judicial districts, with our newest launches in the 5th and 6th. That's nearly two-thirds of the state with several more districts in progress!
The Ambassador Project places current or former foster/kinship caregivers in local communities as trusted Ambassadors who help families connect, access resources, and feel less alone. Through monthly gatherings, caregiver support, child enrichment, and local relationship-building, Ambassadors create spaces where families can find practical support, meaningful connection, and a true sense of belonging.
This growth reflects what we have known from the beginning: foster and kinship families need support close to home, from people who understand their experiences and can help build community around them.
If you would like to see the Ambassador Project expand to your county, partner with us, volunteer, or learn more, please reach out to our Program Manager, Sarah Martin, at [email protected].

May is National Foster Care Month — a time to raise awareness for the children, teens, caregivers, and kinship & foster families whose lives are impacted by the child welfare system.
But awareness is only the beginning...
Children in foster care need more than systems and services. They need people who show up. They need communities that make room. They need ordinary childhood moments — joining a team, going to camp, trying something new, making a memory — that remind them they are seen, valued, and not alone.
At Cobbled Streets, we believe belonging is built through experiences, relationships, and community. This month, we invite you to learn more, stay engaged, and help create a Colorado where every child in foster care has the chance to discover, belong, and succeed.

Crossroads doesn’t happen without people who choose to show up in a big way. ✨
A heartfelt thank you to our Luminary Sponsors: Second Chances with Christy Belz, Mo***re Builders and Terri Hoopes, Christian P. Anschutz Foundation, Osage Initiatives, and Nancy Gary for making Crossroads: The Journey of Rebecoming possible.
Your support went far beyond funding an event. You helped create a space where stories could be felt, not just heard. Where people stepped inside the experience and walked away seeing kids in our community a little differently. 🎭
Because when more people understand what kids are navigating, more people step in. More people show up. More people become part of the community it takes to support them. 💛
Thank you for believing in this work, for trusting the vision, and for standing behind something that asks people to lean in, feel something, and carry it forward.

We’re still taking it in.
To everyone who attended, donated, shared the story, or is choosing to take action—thank you. 💛
This event meant a lot to us, and our community showed up in a way we never expected. You leaned in, you felt it, and that matters.
Because the more people who understand what kids in our community are navigating, the more people step in to show up for them.
We’re grateful for your presence, your support, and your commitment to kids in foster care. ✨
Stay tuned for what’s next—we’re just getting started.
