National PTA denounces continued efforts to eliminate the U.S. Department of Education. As throughout our history, PTA remains steadfast in our commitment to advocate for policies, practices, programs and investments that promote educational equity and opportunity for all children because every child deserves access to a high-quality education that enables them to reach their full potential and thrive into adulthood.

I’m wearing orange! Will you?

June is designated Gun Violence Awareness Month and today marks the beginning of Wear Orange Weekend to honor those whose lives have been changed by gun violence, shine a light on our country’s gun violence crisis and build community with those working to end gun violence. We urge everyone to join us in wearing orange and pushing for action.

Our association has developed resources for parents on steps they can take to advocate for and ensure schools are safe and supportive places for their children as well as on how to cope with and talk to their children about violence. The resources can be accessed and downloaded on our website at PTA.org.

Calling all education advocates! Join Great Education Colorado and Public School Strong national staff next Friday, June 5 for a conversation about using your petition circulation efforts to build local teams for education advocacy through November and beyond. After all, we know that passing the graduated income tax ballot measure is just one (super important) step in the fight to ensure ALL public schools in Colorado are welcoming and fully, fairly funded. Click here to join us on Zoom at 2:30 pm on June 5! Please email [email protected] with any questions.
