🍉🥪 Cooking Friday Fun! 🥪🍉
Throughout this school year, Ms. Angela’s classroom has enjoyed cooking together Friday mornings. These weekly cooking experiences have provided wonderful opportunities for students to practice following recipes, apply math concepts such as counting and fractions, develop fine motor skills (they especially love cracking eggs!), take turns, work as a team, wait patiently, and build many other important life skills. Most importantly, students are highly engaged and take great pride in their work! They got to enjoy a delicious meal or snack!
For our final Cooking Friday of the school year, the class decided to provide lunch for teachers, office staff, and administrators. The menu included cold sub sandwiches, dill pickles, popcorn (because, as one student proudly pointed out, “it’s healthier!”), and a slice of watermelon.
As part of the preparation, students helped create the shopping list by counting the ingredients provided on individual worksheets and then graphing the items needed. Together, we reviewed the graphs and used the information to determine how much of each ingredient we would need to purchase. It was a great opportunity to bring math to life through a meaningful, real-world experience! This special Cooking Friday was a huge success, with students proudly preparing and serving 25 lunches!

Your support helped create a memorable experience and gave our students the opportunity to showcase the many skills they have worked so hard to develop this year.
