🚒Strong turnout in Albany. 🔥
Members of Peekskill Professional Firefighters Local 2343 stood proud alongside our brothers and sisters from Mohegan Lake FD Local 2956, Middletown FD Local 1027, and Newburgh FD Local 589 at the Fix Tier 6 Rally.
Firefighters and union members from across New York came together to make our voices heard and fight for the future of the fire service. Tier 6 continues to place unfair burdens on the next generation of firefighters, and we will continue to stand united until meaningful pension reform is achieved.
When labor stands together, we are stronger. Today was a powerful reminder of the strength, pride, and brotherhood of the union fire service. Proud to stand with so many dedicated professionals fighting for what’s right.

Sadly, we share the news of the passing of Retired Firefighter Paul T. Ball. FF Ball served the City of Peekskill as a professional firefighter for 26 years, from 1979-2005.
Known on the job as “Timmy,” “P.T.,” or “Pop Pop,” prior to his years of service to our City, proudly served our country as a U.S. Marine, and was a Vietnam Veteran.
Pop-pop spent the majority of his career assigned to Ladder and TL-45, and was always a calm voice and presence. Even during some of the most chaotic emergencies, Timmy was cool, calm & collected. He was known for having a hard exterior, but had one of the biggest hearts, and always looked out for his brother firefighters.
He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather to a family he adored. Our deepest condolences to the Ball family.
We remember and salute our brother Timmy, for his service to our City and our Country.

Local 2343 was proud to collaborate with the Peekskill High School Arts Department and art teacher Melissa Cooper for this year’s Winter Wonderland Window Contest. This partnership gave our members the opportunity to work side-by-side with students, strengthen community connections, and help bring creativity and beauty to local storefront windows throughout the city.
FF Walker, FF Park, FF Russo, FF Martell, and PFF Brito truly enjoyed connecting with the students—offering support, lending a hand, and building meaningful relationships throughout the process. Projects like this highlight how our members can collaborate with the community while helping beautify local businesses and public spaces.
The Winter Wonderland Window Contest award was proudly presented by Lt. MacLennan, FF Park, and PFF Brito. Congratulations to Dianelis Alvarez Marroquin, the winner of this year’s contest, whose creativity and talent truly stood out.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to support local arts, inspire young talent, and help brighten Peekskill this winter. 🎨❄️🚒

👼🏼🎄Angel Tree 2025
The Local 2343 elves were on the move earlier this afternoon! Today was delivery day at The Salvation Army- Peekskill, NY, for the all of the gifts collected as a part of the Angel Tree program.
Our members delivered well over 100 gifts, including over a dozen bicycles, scooters, tablets, clothing and toys for children of all ages. These items, all gifted by generous donors within our community, will go to directly to families in need in our community, to ensure their children will have a bright holiday!
A huge thanks to Captain Candace Flanders, and the great folks at the Salvation Army for the opportunity to participate in this incredible program, and all who contributed to the gift collection. Our community is strong, and this effort to help our neighbors is proof of that; we are proud to be a part of it!

❄️Winter Wonderland Window Contest☃️
Late last week, we had a group of students from the Advanced Art program at PHS spend the day at the firehouse with us to decorate our windows for the annual Winter Wonderland Window Contest! The students spent the day painting winter scenes on clear panels that were to be attached to our windows.
The artwork is up and it looks AMAZING! Be sure to check it out if you’re passing by the firehouse on the Main Street side.
Now that the work of the talented PHS students is posted, it’s time to vote! We’re letting our community decide which window is the best - fair warning, this isn’t going to be an easy decision, because they’re all great!
✅Cast your vote by sending our page a private/direct message, and let us know which one you think is best. Voting is officially opened, and closes on December 22nd. We will then count the votes and announce the winners!
Happy Voting!
