As we get closer to our big flight day, we are so excited to introduce the very first group on our manifest! These 17 incredible dogs are officially headed to our amazing partners at Safe Harbor Sanctuary in Maine! ✈️❤️

From our Yellowstone litter to sweet Don Pepe, Igloo, Cordelia, Charlie, Duke, Luna & Rambo, Suede & Corduroy, every single one of these faces represents a life saved because our community stepped up to foster. And guess what? Our feline friends aren't being left behind—we will be announcing our cats heading to Safe Harbor very soon! 🐱👀

A massive thank you to Safe Harbor Sanctuary for taking in this wonderful crew, and to Wings of Rescue for flying right into Del Rio to make this possible! 🙌✈️

Reminder: BAM doesn’t collect adoption fees. We cover 100% of transport vetting, supplies, and airline kennels through your support. If you'd like to sponsor a kennel for one of these pups, please consider donating today!

🎉 ADOPTION UPDATE: Two of our survivors are officially Florida residents! ☀️
We have two incredibly special updates today that are the perfect reminder of why we do this. Both of these babies are true survivors who came from the hardest situations, but they've officially made it to their forever families in Florida!

🌸 Raspberry
Raspberry is a survivor of a really tough hoarding situation, and she was completely shut down when she first arrived. The world was a terrifying place for her. It took a full year of patience and love for her to finally heal and learn how to just be a dog again. Now, she’s thriving with a whole pack of new dog siblings and finally getting to do normal, happy dog things.

🍊 Tangerine
Tangerine is our medical survivor. She went through a brutal battle with mastitis that meant multiple hospitalizations and a few really scary, close calls where she eventually needed a mastectomy. But she fought through it all. Today, she’s totally healthy, super cuddly, and has already claimed her own permanent spot on the recliner next to her human.

Seeing survivors like Raspberry and Tangerine get their happy endings makes every hard day worth it. We are so, so happy for them, and we owe a massive thank you to our new BAM Tampa team for being the bridge to their new lives! 🐾❤️

🐾 Bittersweet Goodbyes & New Beginnings! 🐾

Today is a day of huge emotions for the BAM team. Three very special, long-stay pups have officially left on ground transport to our incredible adoption partners in the Northeast, where the demand for adoptable dogs is high and their forever families are waiting!

Charlotte🩷& Wilbur💙(from Val Verde County Animal Control) – After 8 months in BAM’s care, they are on their way to Safe Harbor Sanctuary in Maine!
Murphy 💚 (from City of Del Rio Animal Services) – After 4 months in our care, he is headed to New Fairfield/Sherman Animal Welfare Society in Connecticut!

Why did these amazing dogs wait so long? They faced a heartbreaking reality known as Black Dog Syndrome—the statistical fact that dark-coated dogs are passed over far more often due to poor photo visibility and unfair biases.

But here at BAM, we don't believe in stigmas. We are fully committed to pulling dogs based on their need, not what they look like, even when we know they might be harder or take longer to place. We are endlessly grateful to our Northeast partners for sharing that vision, looking past the stigma, and giving these three underdogs a stage where they will finally be seen and celebrated!

This milestone is incredibly bittersweet for our up-and-coming BAM Tampa division. For the past 2 months, these pups have been loved, trained, and nurtured by our amazing Florida foster families. Thank you for pouring your hearts into these pups, focusing on their training, and giving them a safe space to just be dogs. Saying goodbye after 2 months of deep bonding is so hard, but you paved their highway to freedom.☀️

Charlotte, Wilbur, and Murphy have grown into confident, happy, and perfect companions. Safe travels, sweet pups—your forever families are waiting! 🚌❤️

✈️ BIG NEWS, DEL RIO! ✈️
We have an absolutely massive announcement. This month, Border Animal Mission is sending 70 Del Rio rescue animals on a life-saving journey to our incredible adoption center partners in the Northeast!

But here’s the best part: normally, our dedicated volunteers have to make a grueling 13-hour round-trip drive to Dallas just to load everyone onto a Wings of Rescue flight. But this time, Wings of Rescue is flying directly into our very own Del Rio International Airport for the pickup! 🙌✈️

Every single one of these 70 rescue animals were pulled directly from our partners at City of Del Rio Animal Services and Val Verde County Animal Control. Our local shelters are incredibly overcrowded right now. By pulling these animals directly from the euthanasia lists, we are giving them a literal second chance at life in areas where there's a high demand for adoptable pets.

An operation this size takes a village. We’ve been working around the clock to network these animals with our partners up north, and our amazing local foster families have given them so much love and care while we got them medically cleared for transport.

As a quick reminder, BAM doesn't handle local adoptions or collect adoption fees. That means 100% of the funds for their transport, vetting, emergency medical care, and supplies comes entirely from donations.

Right now, we are facing a massive upfront expense for the airline kennels needed to get all 70 pets safely onto the plane. If you want to help us sponsor a kennel and get these animals to their new lives, please consider donating today. We truly can't do this without you!

We are at Max capacity!📣

The following dogs are tagged for rescue and make great options to foster. All of them are scheduled to leave June 10th.
If we can find these dogs a home we can avoid euthanizing any of the remaining dogs here at Animal Services.

🐾 Meet Rose 🐾

Rose is a puppy in our care who was recently diagnosed with Microvascular Dysplasia, a condition affecting her liver that requires lifelong medication, a special diet, and ongoing veterinary care.

So far, we've spent over $1,500 on her diagnostics, treatments, and medications, and her care that will continue throughout her life. The attached invoice shows a portion of those expenses.

As a nonprofit rescue, we rely on donations to help dogs like Rose get the second chance they deserve. If you'd like to help support her journey, please consider making a donation.

An event like this takes a village, and we have some massive thank-yous to hand out:

🐾 FREE MICROCHIP & REGISTRATION CLINIC! 🐾
Del Rio pet owners, this is an incredible opportunity you don't want to miss!

Border Animal Mission is hosting a FREE Microchip & Registration Clinic to help keep your furry family members safe and out of local shelters.

🗓️ When: Saturday, May 30th | 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📍 Where: 99 Tierra Blanca Dr, Del Rio, TX 78840

-100% Free microchip, implementation & registration
-Ability to update your contact info for life (also at no cost!)

Both of our local animal control facilities receive so many lost animals that have a microchip, but the owner never registered it—meaning there is no way to contact you. Microchipping & registering allows animal control to quickly identify you and get your baby back home fast, keeping owned pets out of the facility.

❤️ A Huge Thank You!
This event wouldn't be possible without our amazing partners. A massive thank you to Fi for providing the microchips and registration, and to Val Verde County for providing the perfect location to host us.
We have the most amazing group of BAM volunteers ready to help get your pets protected for FREE!

To ensure a safe environment for everyone, please keep the following in mind:
-Please do not bring strays to this event.
-We cannot accommodate aggressive pets.
-Please muzzle your pet if you think there might be any safety or reactivity issues with other animals or people.

💖 How You Can Help Us Keep Doing This
While the chips and registration are covered for this event, coordinating and managing community clinics take a lot of resources. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Border Animal Mission relies entirely on your generosity.

Donations are what keep us running every single day and allow us to host vital events like this for the Del Rio community! If you'd like to support our mission and help us save more lives, please consider dropping a donation at the event or giving online. Every single dollar goes directly back into helping local animals.

Spread the word, share this post, and let’s get Del Rio’s pets protected! We can't wait to see you there! 🐕🐈✨
