📣Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week at WJES!

Walter Jackson Elementary is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Spirit Week, September 28–October 2! We invite our Jaguars to join us for a week of learning, celebrating, and having fun.

Monday – Vibrant Customs 🇲🇽
Wear traditional attire or bright, vibrant colors such as red, orange, yellow, and green.

Tuesday – Music & Dance Day 🎶
Wear traditional attire or a T-shirt celebrating your heritage and get ready to sing and dance!

Wednesday – Treats & Traditions 🌮
Wear clothing featuring food designs, such as taco shirts or fruit prints, or wear a chef hat.

Thursday – Famous Figures ⭐
Dress as or bring a prop representing a famous Hispanic leader, artist, musician, athlete, or author.

Friday – Traditional Games 🎲
Let’s play, celebrate, and finish our week with FUN!

We can’t wait to celebrate the cultures, traditions, contributions, and heritage represented throughout our Jaguar family! 💚💛

Last week, we held our first official House meeting! Ms. Caudle kicked things off with a read-aloud about how our unique differences make our community stronger. ❤️

Our Jaguars then created paper houses—starting with the exact same foundation in each house, but ending up with completely unique designs! 🎨✂️

This is what our House system is all about: 5 distinct houses, but together, we are always ONE Jaguar family! 💚💛

Congratulations to our most recent Happy Heart Book Award Winners!

Yesterday, a great horned owl was found injured outside of the library. Local falconer, Phillip Nette, came to its rescue and transported it to the Auburn Raptor Center. Thank you to the 2nd graders who were careful not to touch it and reported it quickly! As we get updates, we’ll let everyone know about its recovery.
