ATTEMPTING TO IDENTIFY - BURGLARY SUSPECT

Baton Rouge Police Detectives are attempting to identify the individual pictured below.

Investigators believe this individual burglarized a local business in the 8400 block of Airline Highway during the early morning hours of June 21, 2026.

The Baton Rouge Police Department honors the memory of Sergeant Warren Broussard, who was shot and killed on June 21, 1988 by two burglary suspects.

Sergeant Broussard was visiting his grandparents’ house, which had been burglarized the day before. A neighbor alerted him about two males around the corner casing a house. Sergeant Broussard went around the corner and located the two suspects, unaware these were the same two that burglarized his grandparents’ house and unaware that one of the suspects was armed with a handgun stolen in that burglary. As Sergeant Broussard called for back-up, he was shot in the head and stomach.

The suspects were apprehended and charged with murder. One suspect testified against the other for a lesser sentence. That suspect was convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

Sergeant Broussard was a highly decorated Vietnam War Veteran who received the Navy Cross, three Bronze Stars, and the Navy/Marine Corps Medal. He had proudly served with the Baton Rouge Police Department for 15 years.

BRPD Arrest Murder Suspect

On June 20, 2026, Baton Rouge Police arrested Maurice Parms, 51, for the death of Jaderrius Minnieweather, 15.

Minnieweather was reported missing on June 6, 2026.

Evidence suggest that Minnieweather was beaten to death and that his body was disposed of after the attack.

Parms was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for 1st Degree Murder.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Parms has a previous arrest history for Armed Robbery, Indecent Behavior with Juveniles, Computer Aided Solicitation for Sexual Purposes and Simple Burglary.

🐾💙Dynamic Duo, K9 Agent and K9 Flex💙🐾

Last Friday just before 3 o'clock a.m., First District Officers responded to reports of a stolen vehicle on Wooddale Blvd.. The complainant stated that three subjects wearing all black had stolen the victim's Chevrolet Silverado. The information was shared by Dispatch for all Districts to Be On The Lookout.

At approximately 03:02 a.m., Cpl. T. Bennett responded to the 500 block of Finchley Ave. about a suspect burglarizing a vehicle. Third District Officers arrived in the area and saw the previously stolen Chevrolet Silverado in the same area of the vehicle burglary.

Officers tried to stop the stolen vehicle, but it fled, resulting in a short vehicle pursuit. The vehicle came to a stop at 8400 Scarlett where two males wearing all black fled on foot from the vehicle.

A perimeter was quickly established, and Cpl. D. Beard and K9 Agent began the initial search for the suspects. During the search, K9 Agent located a booksack which contained multiple burglary tools in a backyard nearby.

After an extensive search, Cpl. T. Bennett decided to switch K9s due to K9 Agent becoming tired. Cpl. Bennett then used his K9 Flex to continue with the search for the suspects.

During the search, K9 Flex began showing signs that a suspect was close. Cpl. Bennett gave a K9 warning for the suspect to surrender, but the suspect did not respond. K9 Flex was able to apprehend the suspect, who was hiding behind an air conditioning unit on Lasalle Ave. The suspect was taken into custody and later booked into EBR Parish Prison on the following charges:

-Theft of a Motor Vehicle
-Simple Burglary
-Resisting an Officer

👏👮‍♂️💙 Life-Saving Police Work!

BRPD Cpl. Jermaine Javius was recently honored with a SAR Award for his heroic efforts that saved a baby’s life at a Baton Rouge business.

When Cpl. Javius witnessed a father holding a baby in distress, he sprang into action. Thanks to Cpl. Javius’ training, quick thinking, and his clarity in a time of crisis, he was able to clear the child’s airway and maintain the child’s breathing until more help arrived.

Congratulations on this award, Cpl. Javius, and thanks for answering the call to serve! 👏👮‍♂️💙
