“My name is Mohsen lack,
I was born in Iran and I started wrestling when I was 11 years old.
I became the country champion when I was 16 and I was between top three for 7 years, then I started coaching in Iran.
I lived in Australia for a few years. I was Australian wrestling national coach for 3 years until I moved to the New Zealand. I have more than 20 years experience in coaching. I worked/coached many people including wrestlers, UFC fighters and Jiu Jitsu fighters of all levels from beginners to professional athletes.”

Remember we now have a Judo class every Monday with Gareth Knight.
Gareth Knight was New Zealand senior men’s champion from early 1990 through to 2003, competing in -73, -81 and -90kg. He represented New Zealand at the World Champs five times and at the Commonwealth games in 2002. Living up in Japan for 6 years and training daily with top Japanese and international competitors, Gareth developed a flowing and technical style of judo with strong gripping and fluid transitions into ground attacks.

Last Saturday we had our end of year grading and as always it was an awesome day with great techniques shown by those that levelled up.
Congratulations to everyone that graded. For those that didn't stay focused and keep training, your turn is coming.

What a special day receiving my 5th stripe from the hands of my Master Tonicão! More important then any stripe though is being able to be here now with him and my mat brothers, long time training partners. Friends that JiuJitsu gave me over 30 years ago. This is what really matters friendship that I will cherish for the rest of my live!
I'm truly blessed!

   

Ibjjf World Masters JiuJitsu Con 2023 the biggest ever JiuJitsu competition with 10.000 competitors, 2.000 black belts.

Amazing experience, even better with so many kiwis here from multiple different teams, fighting and supporting one another.

We had an incredible time and regardless of results we are better fighters now then we were when we first got here.

The level of JiuJitsu here is extraordinary and to be able to participate in and witness this high level of competition is only going to improve our own JiuJitsu.

   

Last Sunday we received the terrible news of passing. He was a great friend, training partner and coach who was always willing to help those who needed.

He will be greatly missed.

We look after our own and now is the time to give some support to his family in this very difficult time.

We will be hosting a seminar this Saturday at 12:30pm and all the profit will go to his family.

JiuJitsu is so much more then just the most effective martial art out there. it is also  therapy. It brings people together, picks you up and put a smile on your face!
My students become my friends! Majority of my best friends I made on the mats!
My Dojo is my temple where I meet with my favourite people regularly! I love it!

   

Grading day is always special but yesterday was something else. Tukaha have now 9 new black belts!
What an epic day it was.
Big congratulations to everyone that leveled up specially the new black belts, David Fitzsimmons, Brendon Crooks, Clinton Terry, Jahred Dell, Dalton Terei, Kenton Rusbridge, Steve Gowan, Andy Hoyle and Omar Hamouda.


   

Earlier this week I received a horrible message from Brazil, my Master Tonicão was in ICU in critical condition after having a cardiac arrest. I have since being in contact with his wife Gabi, and she has been keeping me informed. His condition has improved and he is now waiting to have surgery this Monday. It is a very straightforward surgery and he has great chances of full recovery.
He is a tough man a real warrior, a modern day Samurai and I'm 100% sure he will come out of this stronger!
Please send him your prayers and positive energy! I will be leaving to Brazil this Tuesday and will be there with him on Wednesday to give him a big hug! 🙏🙏🙏
 
   

A very special open mat today. We said farewell to my brother and Tukaha's new black belt Jakub who's moving to Spain. We will miss you very much brother! Wishing you all the best on this new phase! And congratulations on a very well deserved black belt!
