Last night was GOOD TROUBLE at its finest.
100 people filled the room and every single one of them showed up ready to engage. That’s who we are, Tulsa.

Jess Meloy from the Tulsa Voter Coalition reminded us of something we can never hear enough: elections in Oklahoma are decided by razor-thin margins. Your vote matters. Your friend’s vote matters. Showing up and bringing people with you is how we make change.

State Senator Jo Anna Dossett showed us exactly why we need more thoughtful, strong leaders like her in our state capitol. She gave us a real, honest update on the past legislative session, the wins, the frustrations, and the fights still ahead. She also talked about the very important state questions coming up on the ballots between now and November:

📅 June 16 — SQ 832: Raise Oklahoma’s minimum wage to $15 by 2029. Oklahoma workers haven’t had a raise since 2009. Vote YES.
📅 August 25 — Two State Questions on voter ID and local government funding. Know what you’re voting on.
📅 November 3 — Two more State Questions on property tax. Details coming.

Do your research. Walk into that voting booth an informed voter. There is a lot at stake between now and November. Stay engaged. Stay informed. Show up.

OK we have to be honest…we love both Craig McVay AND Robert Franklin for Superintendent of Public Instruction so much that we just couldn’t choose! Do your research, trust your gut, and make your own call. Either way, Oklahoma kids win!

Last night’s Good Trouble Tulsa meeting was one for the books! A packed house filled with people ready to make good trouble.

We dove deep into the detention to deportation pipeline, learning how ICE operates right here in Oklahoma, the conditions inside detention facilities, and the devastating impact on our immigrant neighbors and our wider community. It was eye-opening, sobering, and galvanizing all at once.

A huge thank you to community advocate Linda Allegro and immigration attorney Lorena Rivas for joining us and sharing their expertise and their passion for justice. We are so grateful.

We left with clear action items: please take a moment to contact Secretary of Homeland Security Mark Wayne Mullin, Senator Lankford, and Senator Alan Armstrong and let them know where you stand.

We also heard from representatives of Raise the Wage Oklahoma about SQ832, the minimum wage state question on the June 16 ballot. Here’s what’s at stake: tens of thousands of hardworking Oklahomans will get a much-needed raise, and 200,000 children will have parents with more money in their pockets. That’s not politics, that’s people’s lives.
