Talk about a resourceful little primate! 🐒🌳

Geoffroy’s marmosets have some pretty clever ways of finding food. Their specialized teeth allow them to gouge holes into tree bark to collect the sugary gum inside. They’ll also take advantage of army ant swarms, catching insects and other small animals that are disturbed as the ants move through the forest. 🐜

Six new faces have joined the Tulsa Zoo family! We’re excited to welcome six new vultures to Tulsa Zoo: two pairs of Cape vultures and two male Hooded vultures!

Our female Cape vultures have a special rehabilitation story. Both sustained wing injuries in the wild after striking power lines. Their injuries left them unable to fly normally, and they were ultimately deemed unreleasable back into the wild. While they cannot take full flight, both are able to move around well and are settling into their new home here at Tulsa Zoo.

Until the future Vulture Aviary within William S. Smith African Wilds opens, the vultures are residing behind the scenes in an area between our Rainforest and Vet Hospital. You may be able to catch a glimpse of them from the ONEOK Safari Train, although their current space may be difficult to see.

Happy World Rhino Day! 🦏 Today, we’re celebrating the incredible southern white rhinos who call Tulsa Zoo home: Rudo and Sally!

Rhinos play an important role in their ecosystems, helping shape grasslands through their grazing and creating opportunities for other species to thrive. 🌿 But wild rhinos continue to face threats from poaching and habitat loss, making conservation efforts more important than ever.

We’re proud to care for Rudo and Sally and help connect our guests with these incredible animals! Through our partnership with the International Rhino Foundation, Tulsa Zoo supports efforts to combat poaching, strengthen wildlife protection and support communities working alongside rhinos in the wild. 🌍

We’re incredibly proud to be part of the Tulsa community and grateful for the continued support our city has shown Tulsa Zoo. As we continue building the future of our zoo, we’re excited to create new experiences for our guests, expand our impact for wildlife and conservation and continue building the world-class zoo our city deserves.

The names are in! 🦩 Recently, we gave seven of our incredible members the opportunity to name our seven flamingo chicks, and we’re so excited to finally share the names they chose! Our bird care team put together a list of names inspired by places within the flamingo’s native range, ocean and coastal themes, and shades of pink.
