We were honored to have our Executive Director, Kevin, and Chief of Staff, Sabra, join the team at Mass Appeal on WWLP as part of Nexstar's Founder's Day of Caring to share how the Springfield Rescue Mission is working every day to fight food insecurity across our community.

During the segment, they highlighted our vital food programs, including our Public Breakfast, Public Lunch and Operation SONshine, which provides meals and support to individuals and families facing hunger throughout the Greater Springfield area.

A special thank you to WWLP-22News and Nexstar Media Group, Inc. for not only shining a spotlight on this important issue but also for their incredible generosity. Through their Founder's Day of Caring initiative, they donated more than 400 sandwiches along with food supplies that will help support our Operation SONshine program and those we serve.

On May 1, we celebrated one of the most meaningful days of the year at the Springfield Rescue Mission — the graduation of 10 men from our New Life Program.

Ten lives transformed.

Ten men who committed themselves to healing, growth, accountability and rebuilding their futures.

And none of it would have been possible without the support of our community.

Because of your generosity:

✅ Five graduates have already been hired and started new jobs. Two of these men had not worked in more than five years before coming to the Mission.

📚 One graduate arrived struggling to read but, thanks to the dedication of a volunteer tutor, is now reading with confidence.

🎓 Three graduates are continuing their education through certification courses at a local college.

💰 Through financial literacy classes offered in our Learning Center, every graduate is now saving money and building toward long-term stability with goals of renting an apartment or even owning a home one day.
