When Bruce and his wife visited Dakin, we could tell they were animal lovers. They chose to adopt Hugo and our adoption center volunteer noticed Bruce’s hat! This warmed our hearts on a busy day at the shelter and we know Hugo is now in wonderful hands in his new home! 💙🐾

• Limit dog walks to short bathroom breaks
• Avoid asphalt to protect dog paws

• Keep cats indoors
• Close window shades/blinds to keep your home cooler

When Diva really needed some time out of the shelter, volunteer Kasia went above and beyond to take Diva on a sightseeing day trip all around Springfield! She clearly had the best time (and was even treated to a pup cup!)

Today, we remember Janet Wilder Dakin on her birthday, June 3. Janet's tireless work in animal welfare started a positive ripple effect throughout the northeast and sparked a half-century-long effort toward a more compassionate community built on a mutual concern for animals and people.

Meet Bambi, a happy-go-lucky girl who’s ready to bounce her way into your life! She is a social butterfly who thrives on fun, affection, and making new friends (both human and canine).

Bambi has allergies that cause itchy skin, so she requires lifelong allergy medication to stay comfortable and happy. To ensure she gets the best care, a vet reference is required for her adoption.

The adoption center at Dakin is open Tuesday - Saturday from 12:30 - 3:00 at 171 Union St, Springfield.
