Marilyn Monroe turned 100 the other day. Among many others, my dear friends , and performed a tribute to her in Hollywood. I wasn’t there, but they were all sending me pictures and videos from the event, and by every metric, they crushed it. Marilyn died in ‘62 , after enduring a massive and punishing career. I doubt many people could have survived being a worldwide s*x symbol, little doe eyed baby woman, appearing to the masses deliciously helpless and spilling over with creamy softness and fantasy feminine wow, and still be such a legend. A zillion think pieces have already come out for the occasion of her 100th already, so I’d just like to share with you a dream I had about her last night.
Probably due to the oodles of tributes and posts online about her, currently, but, in my dream, I was singing some old punkrock s**t from my early days. Marilyn, in her iconic white, “Seven Year Itch” dress, sat on the lip of the stage, smiling at me. She then stood up, winked, and did a proper stage dive into the mosh pit. She danced around in the fray, her pale, delicate arms over her head, and her whole demeaner joyous. She looked so happy.

May you shake off the expectations others have yoked on you, good or bad, and you get to dance with unexpected, wild joyous abandon. Happy birthday, Norma Jean❤️
