Today, our brothers got to partake in Alpha Chi Omega’s DVA Walkathon! Thank you ladies for allowing our brothers to partake in this incredible event!

Our Ms. Fleur De Lis Pageant was a success! We raised over $3000 that will go towards the Judy Fund to help fight Alzheimer’s! We would like to thank our 4 amazing contestants for all the hard work they put in this week! We are very thankful for each and every one you! @ Pensacola, Florida

Here’s Delta Eta alumni, Taylor Collier, on why Black History Month is important to him. “As a biracial man from a single parent household, sometimes while growing up I worried more about taking care of immediate needs then finding out about myself. Throughout recent years, I have been able to truly find out about my family history and the history of Black men. Thanks to inspiring stories told during Black History Month I have learned about the hardships, sacrifices, and triumphs those with darker skin had to endure throughout history. I use this and many other factors in my life to continue to strive to lay a foundation and build a bridge to uplift those around me while also improving on myself.” Thank you for your time in the chapter, Taylor! Here’s Delta Eta alumni, Otis Cohen, on what Black History Month means to him. “Black History month to me is teaching other people about culture and including them into the discussions and make people understand why culture is important. I grew up being surrounded by many cultures while living in Africa and the Middle East. I learned so much more about people in general and because they were different from me I was able to see another spectrum. I grew up celebrating all the customs, traditions and languages of each place that I’ve lived in. I believe it’s important to appreciate and understand not only black history but the history of all cultures and if we take the time out of our days to talk to someone who is different than us, we can learn a lot more and open our minds more to different ideas.” Thank you, Otis! It has paved the way for me to continue to make leaps and bounds. The sacrifices that the leaders of the past have made for me and the doors they have opened for the world, show how we continue to make an impact with black culture. As a future leader and educator, it’s important to know my history and that being a black leader is what the leaders of the past fought for. Black history is not just one month but it’s an everyday experience that will continue to shape the future!” Thank you for everything you’ve done in the chapter, Jarrett! F&F

Here’s brother Kenneth Burrell on why Black History Month is important to him. “Black History month teaches me more about black history every year. Black people in the past have opened up these doors and showed me that I can do anything that I set out to achieve. I love my skin and every day I’m on this earth, I grow prouder to be Black. Even though February is Black History month, it’s important to know that Black History is year round.” Thank you for all your hard work, Kenneth! F&F

Here’s what brother Zeke Goward said about Black History Month and what it means to him, “It is the reason why i work hard and strive to give 110% everyday to what i do. Knowing that people opened doors for me to see that the sky is the limit means i must give it my all to be the best person i can.” We appreciate all that you do for chapter and the community, Zeke! Happy Thanksgiving to all! On this day, we are especially thankful for our fraternity founders who started this brotherhood 111 years ago today! Nick “Miruku” Robinson is part of the Beta Alpha (Fall 16’) pledge class and is graduating with a degree in Communications and Film. Nick is looking to continue his work full-time as a Freshman Admissions Counselor at UWF, with eventual independent film work on the side. Nick’s fondest memory was having a close communications circle of people that he can rely on at any time. His piece of advice is to “always be looking for how to grow”. Thank for all your contributions to the chapter, Brother Nick!

Michael “Chapo” Lemos is part of the Beta Gamma (Fall 17’) pledge class and is graduating with a degree in Business. His favorite memory consist of post-chapter dinners and retreats with the bro’s. William “Odlid” Mettlach is part of the Beta Delta (Fall 18’) pledge class and is graduating with a Psychology Degree. Will plans to be a Clinical Psychologist for kids and teens in the juvenile detention system. Will’s favorite part of the Greek experience was the philanthropy, “whether it was waking up at 5am for the Walk Against Alzheimers, or helping with Miss Fleur Des Lis, or participating in the Sammy Spotlight”. Will’s advice to younger brothers is “to be kind to one another and never take anyone(especially your brothers) for granted.” Thank you for all you’ve done, brother Will!

Zackary “Buttah” Newman is part of the Beta Alpha (Fall 16’) pledge class and is graduating with a degree in International Studies and Political Science. Zack plans to continue his work in higher education and help students make their own legacies. A piece of advice that Zack has is to “not be afraid to take risks or step out of your comfort zone, for once you do, you'll have new perspectives on things you've never known before.” Thank you for all you’ve done, brother Zack!

Mario “Suga” Tobar is part of the Alpha Psi(Fall 15’) pledge class and is graduating with a degree in mathematics. Mario plans to work for ESPN or EA Sports with Data Analytics. Mario’s favorite memory has been all the leadership experience he has gain from being on the Executive Board for 3 years. Mario’s piece of advice is to “keep battling through the adversity, and if the actives ever need anything, reach out to Alumni” Thank you for all you’ve done, brother Mario!
