New Port Richey Public Library

📚👏 A big congratulations to five of our youngest readers!

Last night, these youngsters were celebrated by The City of New Port Richey, FL - City Hall for completing our 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten and 500 Books Before Middle School reading challenges. Along their reading journey, they earned fun prizes, with the final reward being a book of their choosing — one they don’t have to return to the library. Enjoy, and remember to keep turning those pages!

To participate in our reading challenges, download the Beanstack app or visit nprlibrary.beanstack.org.

🔎👣 Join us on Thurs, Oct 15th at 5:30pm and learn all about Florida's Creepy Cryptids!

RPG, premier cryptozoologist for the History Channel's History's Greatest Mysteries, returns to the Library for a presentation on our state's mysterious creatures, such as the Skunk Ape and the Pensacola Sea Monster. A belief in cryptids is not necessary to enjoy this talk, only a sense of curiosity and a willingness to explore folklore and enduring mysteries with fresh eyes.

👩‍🔬🎃🧪 Join us for some spooky science on Mon, Oct. 12 at 1pm!

Experience creepy potions, a dry ice cemetery effect, floating eyeballs, and more! Recommended for elementary-aged children but open to all families. Presented by Mad Science.

👻🎃🍬 It's that time of year again...

Join us on Fri, Oct. 30th at 11am for one of the cutest days of the year — our annual Trick-or-Treat Parade! Rhymes to Readers Storytime will begin at 11am with some fun Halloween stories, rhymes and songs for little ones. Afterwards, we will line up and begin our trick-or-treating around City Hall to visit each department. Costumes are encouraged, and don't forget to bring something to hold your candy, too!

🎃👻📚 Ready to get into the Halloween spirit? Check out our Spooky Season challenge!

Read, complete fun activities, and work your way through a Halloween-themed BINGO card. Everyone who gets a BINGO will receive a prize, and anyone who completes the entire card will be entered for a chance to win a pair of tickets to a ghost tour in Downtown Tarpon Springs!

The challenge runs through October 31 and is open to adults ages 18+. Sign up through the Beanstack app or by visiting nprlibrary.beanstack.org.

💌📮 Happy World Postcard Day!

October 1st marks the anniversary of the first official postcard, which issued in 1869. To celebrate, we have two postcard designs available at the Library. One is ready to address and send, while the other can be colored in before you send it (postage is included for both).

Write a message for a relative, friend, or find a fellow postcard enthusiast through postcrossing.com. One per person, available while supplies last.
