Little Blue Box Free Library

blue police box, the TARDIS, from my favorite TV Show, Doctor Who. The Doctor and his companions travel through time and space in the TARDIS (that's really bigger on the inside) to other worlds and go on grand adventures. To me, that made the perfect symbol for books that let the reader travel through their imagination and have endless adventures. After deciding to build the library, I made a Kickstarter campaign hoping to crowd fund support and donations. I figured if I even received $20 it would help with the cost of supplies. During the 30 day campaign I received donations from as far away as Australia and ended up nearly tripling the goal amount. I was incredibly touched and blown away by the world wide support and generosity of total strangers! My Dad designed the library from my scribbled notes and built everything by hand. My Mom helped paint and worked on the gardening, my fiance pitched in with heavy lifting and support, and my friends and neighbors have been stopping by to drop off books. I am incredibly excited to share this project with the community, I hope it inspires others to create their own little free libraries and help promote the love of books and reading!
