Today we celebrate Juneteenth, the day enslaved people in America were finally freed. Juneteenth was recognized as a federal holiday years ago. However, despite months of advocacy by local unions, the Merced County Board of Supervisors refuses to recognize it. We suggest everyone ask them why?

Tomorrow is our second annual Merced Zine Fest in partnership with the Merced County Library! Visit and browse independent artists, writers and activists from across our region showing zines, comics, prints, stickers and more. And local, black-owned business Quichey Creations will be onsite with snacks to keep everyone fueled. See you there!
