Fun Fact Friday! Tanzanite

Tanzanite is only found in one place on Earth, the Merelani Hills near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. It's discovery dates back to 1967. Soon after, the gemstone was introduced to the market by Tiffany & Co. who had the privilege of naming the stone. Tanzanite exhibits a range of colors, from deep blues to bright purples. Its pleochroism, or ability to change hues depending on lighting and the shape of the stone, adds to its desirability.

Our Staff Spotlight this week is about Aaron! Jewelry Care Tips 🕵️‍♀️

Storing your jewelry correctly reduces moisture, scratches, and tangles. Jewelry boxes or soft pouches are great homes for luxury items. To avoid humidity, place silica gel packets in your jewelry box.

Regular cleaning helps maintain its brilliance and address wear and tear. Avoid using paper-towels or tissues; opt for a soft cloth for polishing. Use appropriate cleaning solutions depending on the stone. Ask us about our fine jewelry cleaner next time you visit.

Activities like cleaning and cooking expose jewelry to harsh chemicals. Swimming, showering, or working out can also lead to damage from impact, sweat, or loss (drains...they're the worst).

Engagement rings and wedding bands should be professionally maintained every six months to check for loose stones or weak settings. Other jewelry should be scheduled for an annual visit.
