Fall 2026 Classes Begin After Labor Day, September 8! Registration is now!

We are introducing a new intermediate Serious Sketchers class for ages 14-17 on Wednesdays from 6:15-7:15 PM.

Classes are face-to-face at Sycamore Place Gallery, Decatur, GA and/or on Zoom! Wherever you go the classes are accessible as long as you have Wi-Fi and a device!

Group classes are $105 / month. An Art Supply Packet (for the children’s class only) is included, and a list of art supplies will be provided for adults.

Classes:

Monday 6:15-7:15 PM: Serious Sketchers & Fantasy Drawing (middle and high school). $105 / month. This class emphasizes classical and whimsical drawing techniques with a variety of media, incorporating traditional ex*****on and fantasy drawing.

Tuesday 5-6 PM: Serious Sketchers & Fantasy Drawing (ages 8-11). $105 / month. This class teaches students beginning classical drawing with an emphasis on the imagination and learning how to look at details in developing eye-hand coordination.

Wednesday 5-6 PM: Multimedia Arts & Crafts (ages 5-8). $105 / month. This is an introductory art class where the child is exposed to a variety of media and storytelling. Children learn to draw from their dreams and feelings.

Wednesday 6:15-7:15 PM: Intermediate Serious Sketchers (ages 14-17). $105 / month. This class caters to older students who have a more advanced skillset with an eye towards developing their portfolio skills using a variety of media.

Wednesdays 7:30-9:00 PM: Abstract Acrylics for Adults. $105 / month. This class teaches beginning and continuing adults how to play with acrylic paint and work with traditional and experimental techniques.

Thursdays 6:00-7:30 PM: Watercolors & Sketching for Adults. $105 / month. This class uses traditional techniques in watercolor and learning how to look so students can render their subject with water color pencils or paintbrush.

In all classes, Ms. Sylvia incorporates the language of art and art history, referencing contemporary and historical styles of local and international artists.

Exhibit chronicles life of Atlanta Negro League player The exhibit “Spotlight on James ‘Red’ Moore” is now open until June 18 at the Sycamore Place Gallery. It was curated by Greg White, Moore’s publicist and historian.

The exhibit “Spotlight on James ‘Red’ Moore” will run June 7 -18th at Sycamore Place Gallery. Mr. Moore, an Atlanta native, was a talented first baseman in the Negro League who played for the Atlanta Black Crackers and other teams. His story is more than baseball, it is a reminder of talent that thrives despite limited opportunities; a legacy that inspires future generations.

The exhibit will include pictures, artwork, articles, collectibles and a Negro League Baseball mini library.

On Sunday June 7th 3-5pm guests will enjoy a special talk with Greg White, friend, historian and publicist for “Red” Moore .
