Funds received by DEDC are used to promote the economic growth of Decatur and give the Corporation flexibility to assist companies with infrastructure, training and other items of importance. We were honored to welcome Cora to this month’s DEDC board meeting to share the story behind her beautiful artwork!
Her creativity, confidence, and courage to stand up and speak in front of the board were truly impressive, and she did a wonderful job. We are proud to have her artwork displayed in our office for the next year as a reminder of the incredible talent within Decatur ISD.
We also want to thank Decatur ISD for the strong partnerships they continue to build with businesses and organizations throughout our community. Opportunities like this make Decatur such a special place to live, learn, and grow.

Decatur EDC was honored this week to receive the “2026 Economic Development Excellence Award” from Workforce Solutions for North Central Texas! Of the many respected economic development organizations in WSNCT’s 14-county DFW region, DEDC was the organization selected for the award due to our innovation and partnerships improving workforce development in the Decatur area. We are humbled by this recognition and grateful to our partners for their hard work to help us continue our mission every day to drive positive economic activity in Decatur.
Celebrating its first year in 2026, Decatur First Responders Day brought together 60+ students from four Wise County ISDs for hands-on demos, interactive experiences, and real conversations with local heroes from Decatur Fire Department, Decatur Police Department, Wise County Sheriff's Office, Wise County EMS & Rescue, and Medical City Decatur. This event connects students with careers in public safety and healthcare, strengthens our local workforce pipeline, and builds partnerships to keep our community strong for years to come.

Manufacturing Day 2025 was a success thanks to all of our partners, employers and school districts that participated! In total we had 79 students combined between Decatur ISD, Paradise Independent School District and Slidell ISD that toured 7 Decatur industrial employers resulting in 896 exposures to future job opportunities. This video was created by Hayden Anthony, a student from Paradise ISD! The future workforce available to Decatur employers is strong!
