πΉπ Happy Father's Day from Oakhurst Guinea Pig Rescue! ππΉ
What a wonderful Father's Day adoption event! Today, six piggies found their forever homes, and we couldn't be happier.
First up were Cheese and Roni, who were abandoned at a local apartment complex and left wondering what their future would hold. Today, they left with an incredible family ready to give them all the love, care, and security they deserve.
Next were Ranger and Boone, two of the eight guinea pigs who were heartbreakingly left in a box in the woods. These sweet boys have been through so much, yet they have remained gentle, trusting, and full of personality. We are beyond thrilled that they have finally found their perfect forever home.
And last but certainly not least, little Dewdrop and Drizzle found their family today! Born at the Cobb County shelter on April 26, 2026, these tiny sisters were part of the group of 13 guinea pigs we welcomed from Cobb County. Their lives may have started with uncertainty, but today they begin a new chapter filled with love and happiness.
To each of the families who chose adoption today, thank you. By opening your hearts and homes to these little ones, you are giving them the second chance they deserve. There is no greater gift than a loving forever home.
A huge thank you also goes out to our amazing Adoption Coordinator, Kerith, and our wonderful Foster Coordinators, Erin and Catalina, for organizing, scheduling, and making today's adoptions possible. To all of our incredible foster families who open their homes, provide daily care, and help these piggies heal and thrive, you are the heart of this rescue. We simply could not do this without you.
Today was a reminder of why we do what we do. Six piggies, six happy endings, and six bright futures ahead.
Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads and father figures out there, and congratulations to our newest adoptive families! β€οΈπΉπ‘πΉπΉπΉπΉπΉπΉ

πΉπ FOSTERS URGENTLY NEEDED ππΉ
Yesterday, we were contacted about 8 guinea pigs that had been abandoned, and Oakhurst Guinea Pig Rescue is currently working to bring them into our care. The challenge is that we are completely out of space.
This has been one of the most difficult years in our rescue's history. We have already taken in 28 dumped guinea pigs from LaGrange, 13 guinea pigs from Cobb County, and welcomed 13 babies from those rescues. We recently took in 3 more guinea pigs from DeKalb County, and at least one appears to be pregnant. All of this is in addition to our normal intake and return cases.
If you have ever considered fostering, now is a wonderful time to help. Summer is a great time for fostering, and it can even be an opportunity to foster-to-adopt if you fall in love with your temporary guests.
OGPR provides the cage, bedding, hay, pellets, and veterinary care. We simply ask foster families, if they are able, to help provide fresh vegetables for their foster piggies.
We can also provide community service hours for students looking for a meaningful way to give back this summer.
Every foster home allows us to save more lives. If you have room in your heart and home, please reach out today.
If you canβt foster, please consider sharing this post to help us reach more people. A single share could connect us to the foster home these guinea pigs are desperately waiting for.
Thank you to our amazing supporters for standing with us through this incredibly busy year. We couldnβt do it without you. ππΉ

πΈπΉ Happy Motherβs Day from Oakhurst Guinea Pig Rescue πΉπΈ
Today, weβre celebrating all the wonderful moms out there, both human and guinea pig alike.
Over the past few weeks, with our large intakes from LaGrange and Cobb County, weβve also welcomed a beautiful baby boom at OGPR. So far, 11 sweet little pups have been born, with one more mama getting very close to welcoming her pups into the world.
Watching these mama piggies care for their little ones has been truly heartwarming. Each one is gentle, devoted, and attentive, lovingly keeping their pups warm, fed, and safe. Itβs a beautiful reminder that a motherβs love comes in many forms, and every one of these moms is doing an incredible job.
With the huge number of guinea pigs weβve taken in this year, these new little arrivals certainly add to our growing census, but we are so grateful for our amazing foster team, who continue to step up in extraordinary ways.
A very special thank you to Lynne, Lisa, and Erin for providing such wonderful care, comfort, and love to these mamas and their pups. Your dedication makes all the difference. π
To every mom out there, thank you for all you do. We hope your day is filled with love, appreciation, and a little time to rest. ππΉππΉ

πππΉA happy rescue update from Oakhurst Guinea Pig Rescue πΉππ
This week, OGPR was contacted by a kind person who had spotted two guinea pigs loose in their apartment complex. We learned these little girls had been surviving outside for nearly three weeks before we were contacted.
Thanks to our incredible foster and volunteer Erin, hope quickly turned into action. On her way home from work, Erin stopped by the complex, quickly spotted both guinea pigs, and then spent more than two hours patiently and determinedly rescuing them all on her own. These little ladies were crafty, but Erin never gave up, and because of her dedication, both are now safely in our care.
What is truly amazing is that despite weeks outdoors and the strong rainstorms we have had, both sweet girls appear to be in remarkably good shape. They are now safe, warm, dry, and surrounded by love. Soon, they will be visiting our vet, and we are hopeful this is the beginning of a bright new chapter filled with comfort, care, and better days ahead.
Stories like this are only possible because of the extraordinary people who make up the Oakhurst Guinea Pig Rescue family. We are completely volunteer-run and supported by generous donors, fosters, and friends who believe every guinea pig deserves a chance.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making this rescue possible. Also, a very special thank you to Erin for going above and beyond to save these two precious girls. Here is to brighter days ahead ππΉβ¨

Happy Adoption Day update from Oakhurst Guinea Pig Rescue πΉπ
It has been a little quiet on our page lately because we have been busy caring for so many new intakes and babies, but we are so happy to share this special story.
Roady, who was found wandering in the roadway back in 2023, recently lost his buddy and needed a new friend. His wonderful family traveled all the way from Athens and placed their trust in OGPR to help find the perfect match. We are so grateful for families like theirs, whose love and commitment to their guinea pigs shines so brightly.
Roady met Leo, the bonding went beautifully, and now the two are back home together and settling into life as new best friends.
Thank you to Roadyβs family for making the trip and for trusting OGPR to be part of this happy new chapter. Stories like this remind us why we do what we do πΉβ¨π

We had a wonderful time at the Inman Park Festival parade yesterday. This was the second year Oakhurst Guinea Pig Rescue has participated, and we are so grateful to everyone who came out to walk with us and help spread the word about guinea pig rescue. πΉππΉ
What made the day especially meaningful was how many people stopped us after the parade to share how much they admired our cause and how happy they were to learn that a guinea pig rescue exists in Georgia. Moments like that remind us why outreach matters so much.
Events like this put us in front of thousands of people, creating awareness, inspiring support, and sharing an important message: adopt, donβt shop!
Thank you for helping us make a big impact for the piggies. We are already looking forward to next year! ππΎπΉπΉππ
