Today, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, the brave heroes who ran toward danger, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

On this solemn day, we reflect on the strength, unity, and resilience that carried our nation through one of its darkest moments. We honor the courage of first responders, service members, and everyday citizens whose actions inspired hope in the face of tragedy.

As we remember, may we continue to uphold the values of compassion, courage, kindness, and unity, working together to build a stronger and more peaceful future. We will never forget.

We had the honor of welcoming Maor Elbaz-Starinsky, immediate past Consul General of Israel in Miami, to the HabCenter this week for an inspiring, hands-on tour of our campus and community.

This meaningful visit was made possible by longtime donor and champion Barry Schnittman of Goody Two Shoes, who generously underwrites our Fashionable Program and provides vital ongoing support for our program individuals.

During the visit, Consul General Elbaz-Starinsky took the time to connect directly with our individuals and see our mission in action:

-Social Enterprise & Workforce Development: Touring our AS9100-certified contract manufacturing operations, observing the precision, pride, and professional skills our team brings to the table every day.
-Horticultural Training: Walking through our nursery to see firsthand the growth, routine, and fulfillment our green spaces nurture.
-Clinical & Therapeutic Impact: Witnessing tangible examples of how our comprehensive support services strengthen self-worth, build independence, and create purposeful opportunities.

One of the most touching moments of the day came from the connection between Maor and our employee, Irina Camano. Having both grown up in Israel and served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the two shared a heartfelt exchange that brought an extra layer of community and shared roots to the tour.

Thank you, Maor, for your genuine warmth and engagement with our individuals, and thank you, Barry, for your advocacy and belief in our mission. Community champions like you make our work possible.
