AEDRA - Assistance for Economic Development in Rural Areas

Every year, millions of people leave their rural communities to migrate to large cities in search of better opportunities: from education, to health services to jobs. In Latin America, 81% of people live in urban areas and this number keeps growing every year; less and less people live in rural areas. The reasons are many, including poverty, the lack of government support, poor education and scarce public services. Our organization, AEDRA, Assistance For Economic Development in Rural Areas, will focus on the specific problem of developing economic opportunities through rural entrepreneurship to help people from local villages to start and grow their businesses in a sustainable way. AEDRA is a non profit based in the US, formed by members with entrepreneurial background, who have developed an interest in assisting rural areas that have been neglected by large corporations and governments. Our goal is to assist people, in particular women, who live in remote communities so they can start their own business with seed money. We also want to create a network connecting sponsors to micro entrepreneurs to further develop projects in green energy and applied technology to food and farming. Our long term goal is to increase the annual income of individuals in rural communities, to lower the rate of migration to urban areas and to replicate this model to other countries! �������
