✨Words matter✨

The person who made this comment about my weight was a 35 year old man, and he was my work supervisor.

He may or may not have had any idea the impact it would have on me, a 21 year old female employee, but why would a man , my boss, think it’s okay to comment on a woman’s body? 😓

✨ And I don’t want to hear, “Oh Barb, you’re being too sensitive, it was a compliment.”✨
This was a reaction that a male friend said to me recently.

Let’s all agree that we never comment on someone’s body, ever, but especially in the workplace.

This comment led me to 6 years of struggle with the eating disorder of bulimia.
Let’s be kind and thoughtful ✨

✨ If your instinct is to make a comment, pause, ask yourself could this actually be insensitive? Your heart will guide you.❤️

When I got divorced I had people saying “are you sure you want to be alone?” 😩

I don’t think they were being mean, judgmental, or critical, I truly think they were scared for me.

✨Or maybe they were projecting their fear on to me✨.

Whatever the reason I knew that divorce was exactly the action I needed to take. I also knew it wouldn’t be easy, and that’s been true.

I want you to believe this in your heart ❤️‍🩹
✨ Your wellbeing has to be your #1 priority. So it is always ok to take whatever action necessary to live your life on your terms.
✨ Always with the caveat, that we never harm others.

You are brave, strong, and wise, so a break up, starting over, moving on, saying no, eating alone, and whatever else comes along is absolutely ok. 🤗

This may surprise you; a few days ago when I posted about my divorce I received many comments from people who did not know what I have been through😲

Our community here has really grown so I’m going to share more about my life story.

✨Life is difficult. I’ve been through a lot, just like many of you, and my desire is that you will feel like, “If she can do it, I can.” 🫶

✨ I hope to be an example of this truth: “Nothing in life ever defines who we are and no one has the power to name who we are.”💪

✨ I’m not perfect, no one is ever perfect. My story of healing and growth isn’t perfect, but it’s mine.
I’ve been through a lot. I would never ask for all that life has dealt me, but I wouldn’t change it either.

I’m wiser and stronger. I love myself completely and I love my life. ❤️‍🩹

✨ I love our community here. We’re in life to learn, grow, and become the greatest version of who we are from the inside out, together. 🤲

✨ I will be sharing more so let me know your thoughts, and please ask me anything!

Stop wasting your time, when someone apologizes over and over again, but continues the same hurtful behavior.

Often it’s the same, but there are times when it’s covered up with charm and manipulation.

Drop a 💙 if you’re exhausted and ready to wish someone well but keep on walking.

Remember: Einstein said: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.”

Your life matters. Time is our most precious commodity, we can’t get it back or make more of it! Sending you love 🥰

Hard Truth: When people minimize your pain it’s a form of gaslighting😮‍💨

When someone asks, “Was it really that bad?” They’re saying, “Well let’s decide if your feelings are valid!”

✨Feelings are not facts. Feelings are not right or wrong. Feelings are meant to be felt, acknowledged, and then they move through us✨

When we experience something painful, the last thing we need is to feel ashamed. 😳

✨Support is needed.
✨Compassion is needed.
✨Encouragement is needed.
✨Community is needed.

Often we simply need a kind ear from someone to listen.

✨We all want to be seen, heard, and know we’re not alone. I see you.

michelle maros 🤍 and I feel so loved and inspired after a fabulous day Indiana University. 🥰
We toured the campus, stood on the field at Memorial Stadium, and celebrated Indiana Football 🏈 with their National Championship trophies (scroll to the end to see all 6 ) then capped the day off with an incredible talk with Michelle’s bestselling book Dear Friend.

It was such an honor to talk to athletes, students, coaches, staff and the Bloomington community as part of their Women’s Excellence program.

Thank you Hoosiers for a remarkable time, our hearts are filled with joy. 🥹

✨ When someone has caused me harm, and is not sorry (which means changed behavior), they are no longer a part of my life. I wish them well and keep on walking 👣
