Feed Fannin

It’s the great pumpkin Charlie Brown. Well maybe a medium one but we are delighted.Lots of okra and peppers were picked yesterday. We love our garden volunteers and appreciate them so much.

“And a special shout out to Feed Fannin Chair, Andy Livingston for taking the Jeep for a bath and vacuum this morning before adding the new car magnets. That car had gotten pret-ty dirty hauling around over 15,000 lbs of produce and garden supplies this summer! We’ve a few more weeks of produce from the garden to go, but the car is all clean and we’re getting geared up for transporting groceries this Fall. “

Today Feed Fannin was blessed to have 2 home schooled families visit again and help with a few chores. They weeded a couple raised beds and covered with fabric until Spring. They collected dry beans from the Research Garden to be used as seed next year. They were instructed about growing okra and learned how to harvest it. They harvested peppers then collected Cleome seed to take home and plant in their pollinator garden. Finally each family picked several bouquets of zinnias to take home. We love having them visit the farm!

Scenes around the farm today. Teresa, Virginia and Kathy picked okra and Kathy delivered it to the food pantry. We also picked lots of banana peppers and Rhonda came to get some dried corn stalks for the Fannin County schools agricultural center.

Sweet Heather and Jessica and their kids helped us so much at the farm today. They cleared out the raised beds, pulled down the green beans, watered the squash and pumpkins. Tammy and Dixie picked a bunch of peppers and Virginia still got some okra after all that was picked yesterday.

Wow. Diane Tortis and Kathy Beck picked an epic 71 pounds of okra today at the farm. Huge bountiful blessing and great super pickers, thank you for all you do.

We are thankful we had two new ladies help our Feed Fannin volunteers pack Meals on Wheels this month. 48 clients will receive a substantial staple box because they all stepped up and made it possible. Can’t do this work without you!

Shown here are Andy Livingston and Peggy Caldwell who attended Steve Stacy Roofing’s 25th anniversary event last Friday evening. They auctioned off Yeti coolers and Yeti tumblers and then matched the donation. They donated $1000 to Feed Fannin. Thank you so much to Steve Stacy Roofing. We really appreciate your generosity to the community and to our Feed Fannin volunteer organization.

We got lots done today at the farm, beans pulled down, okra and peppers picked, squash weeded and watered with our new easy stainless steel hose. Most exciting was our little visitor who wants to join our small but mighty group of volunteers. And we were so delighted to have Dixie back after she’s been helping a family member.

Scenes around the farm today. We do want to thank you all for your support. Teresa and Priscilla pulled down lots of the green bean plants. Also the Okra Girls Diane and Virginia picked close to 26 pounds of okra and Priscilla picked around 4 pounds of tomatoes. We still have peppers and many happy zinnia flowers.
