The Humane Society of Blue Ridge (HSBR) is a no-kill pet shelter and adoption center located in the North Georgia Mountains. HSBR was established in December 2008 by a group of dedicated volunteers who wanted to help save abandoned, injured, or mistreated animals in the Fannin County Georgia area. HSBR operates a thrift store located in downtown Blue Ridge and all proceeds go towards the animals. Come Like our HSBR business Page on Facebook to Keep Up with Current Events! Your generous donations will help us give the animals in our care the attention they deserve. Your monetary donations go a long way to helping homeless cats and dogs. Your contribution helps us find loving homes for countless animals, as well as provide shelter and medical care for our temporary "guests". Donations can be made in person at the Thrift Store:

OUR MISSION AT THE HSBR:
To promote respect for all living things. To provide for the welfare of abandoned, injured, or mistreated animals and to find them loving, permanent homes. We will work to increase the awareness of animal issues through public education, striving to end euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals and promote and offer affordable spay and neutering.

Barktoberfest 2026 is 8 days away! 🍂🐾
Come spend your Sunday with us at Grumpy Old Men Brewing for live music, food, cold b**r and dogs!
We’ll have The Great Pupkin Ale on tap, a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, event tees and food from Scrappy's Dog House.

MOONIE has a new name, a new home and apparently a whole new personality. 🥹
Now named OPOSSUM, this sweet boy was adopted just last week. At the shelter, he wasn’t exactly known for being cuddly. He hissed often and made sure everyone knew when he wasn’t comfortable.
But the shelter is RARELY a place where an animal can show you who they really are.
His family says OPOSSUM has “lost his pretend attitude.” 😆 He’s climbing into laps, purring, cuddling on the couch and settling into home life beautifully. He may still throw in a hiss here and there for good measure, but his family already has him figured out.
This is one of our favorite kinds of updates!
Seeing an animal finally feel safe enough to soften, settle in and let their real personality come through.
Happy home, OPOSSUM. We think you landed exactly where you were supposed to. ❤️

come meet adoptable PIRATE 🥹🫶🏽
These three are part of the five beagles who came to us from a terrible situation of abuse and neglect. It’s hard to put into words what these dogs have survived and we know we don’t know the half of it. 💔
We named them after Stranger Things characters because they survived their own version of The Upside Down. ❤️🩹
For them, bravery might be taking a treat from someone’s hand, staying close instead of running away, letting a staff member or volunteer sit beside them.
Getting curious about something new instead of immediately being afraid. 🥹
Our staff and volunteers have been working with them every day and slowly, they’re starting to open up.
STEVE, LUCAS and EDDIE are going to need very patient adopters. They need calm homes where they can decompress and learn a new routine without being pushed. They may be nervous around new people, sounds and situations. Affection and trust will come on their timeline.
These aren’t dogs who are going to walk through your front door and immediately understand that they’re home.
But for the right people, watching them figure that out will be .. everything. 🫶🏽
