Perfect weather for kids coaching with Courtney!

Following on from the awesome skiing at the Tournament Nationals, we also had representation at the Barefoot Nationals with John McTaggart bringing home the good stuff!!
Congrats John!

After the hangovers and sore bodies from Nationals have subsided it is time to get some photos out there so you can all see the fun we all had! Would love to see more of you there.
Congrats to all our team skiers. There are too many to name individually, but lots got the climb the podium, grace the bar, or event provide some entertainment with awesome crashes (looking at you Simon)!
We had some standout performances from Suzy Toresen and Carter Millward with more medals than we could count.
Jess, Tim, Braden and Charlie also added to the medal tally.
Our over 35's (James, Cam, Chris) put in valiant efforts to win medals alongside Tommo topping the OM tricks podium.
We also had newcomer to Nationals Scott Kelly climb the stairs to glory too!
Chris Shaw was also awarded the Ken Hey trophy for service to the sport.
As always, thanks needs to go to the Auckland crew organising, judging, driving and doing pickup boats etc.
Finally, and most importantly, the North Island re-asserted their dominance in the Boat Race at prizegiving! :D

A huge thank you to all those club members who stepped up to help out with our Winter Working Bees over the past few weeks. We have made great progress planting the banks in front of the clubhouse. A huge shout out too to Wendy and the team at Pourewa Nursery for partnering with us on this project and to Orakei Local Board who helped us with planning.

Well….. night before Nationals begins and Auckland (Region) Blue & White Teams are getting ready. The ski site looks great. Thanks Northland for all of your hard work!

A massive Congrats to our two AWSC club members who represented us as a club and NZ at the Oz/Kiwi Tournament.

Suzy and Carter made strong contributions to NZ winning the under 14 division.

Suzy pb’d in all 3 events. She was the only u14 skier to run 13m which is an incredible result. Also a 520 point trick pb. 👏🏽

Carter pb’d in slalom and jump and won gold in trick. 👏🏽

AUCKLAND SEASON STARTER THIS SATURDAY

Skiers briefing is at 7.15am.

We will be setting up boats etc from 7am so can we please have as many people/skiers on site at that time ready to help out.

A big thanks to Joel Poland for braving the Auckland weather yesterday and putting in a big afternoon of coaching at the Basin. All of the skiers involved loved it. We’d love to see you again.

Look who is checking out our awesome Bemman ski jump!

The AWSC would like to celebrate the recent achievements (and hard work) of Suzy Toresen. Suzy is now ranked #1 in NZ for U14G slalom and number 5 in the USA for slalom, number 2 for Jump and number 3 for overall (US). Suzy's world rankings are up as well and she is now at 25 in the world (IWWF) for slalom and still a year to go in her age group! Thanks to all the people that helped Suzy over the last 18 months in this new sport. These include Kyle Eade, Courtney Williams, Glen Williams, Alex King, Paul Murray, Auckland Waterski Club, Chris Shaw, Tom Gilbert, Andy McDougall, “Maverick” Duncan Hancock (and amazing family), Jack Engel, the amazing Silver family and the Runciman clan and the countless other people that have given Suzy help and advice, time on the water and encouragement. Been an amazing experience so far.

A very special thanks to those AWSC clubbies who came down today and worked very hard to tidy up the club and surrounding grounds. It was hard work in trying conditions.

The Auckland Region is proud to announce their intent to host the NZ Open 2023 with a major cash-prize of $50k+ in the week prior to Moomba.
The event will be held at the Orakei Basin in Auckland, 10 mins from central Auckland and within sight of the Skytower and 20 minutes from Auckland Airport.
