There are two ways of spreading light: To be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.

12/12/2023

🕎The fifth night of Hanukah🕎
The lights of the Hanukkah menorah that we kindle in our homes are a reminder both of the Menorah in the Temple in Jerusalem and the light that shines brightly within each one of us

11/12/2023

Wherever our enemies spread hatred, we will spread love wherever they bring death to Israel, we will bring life; and wherever they destroy prayer and Tefillin, we will restore it. This is the way we have always acted, how we have managed to survive in the past, and how we will continue to thrive in the future.

11/12/2023

When you light the Hanukah candles, you can bring down salvations. The days of Hanukah are particularly special to be healed above nature, for barren women to conceive, success and creating lots of light!

Hanukah, the festival of lights, is a celebration that holds deep significance in Jewish culture. It commemorates the triumph of the Maccabees, who with the help of the Creator of the world, emerged victorious against all odds. Their righteous actions involved reclaiming the crown, purifying the Temple, and rekindling the menorah using a meager amount of oil that miraculously burned for eight days. This wondrous event, which required the Maccabees to rise above their human limitations and embrace their emuna, has since become a cherished tradition observed every year. It serves as a powerful reminder that miracles are not confined to the past but continue to occur, even in present times. Throughout the history of Israel, during times of conflict and war, we witness the tremendous and awe-inspiring miracles that unfold, affirming our emuna in the Creator of the world and the righteousness of the sages. Hanukah serves as a constant reminder that miracles are not just poetic stories of the past but extraordinary occurrences that touch our lives every day, filling our hearts with gratitude and wonder.

Parshat Vayeishev
(Bereish*t 37:1–40:23)

Yaakov (Jacob) settles in Chevron (Hebron) with his twelve sons. His favorite is 17-year-old Yosef (Joseph), whose brothers are jealous of the preferential treatment he receives from his father, such as a precious many-colored coat that Yaakov makes for Yosef. Yosef relates to his brothers two dreams he has which foretell that he is destined to rule over them, increasing their envy and hatred towards him.

Shimon and Levi plot to kill him, but Reuven suggests that they throw him into a pit instead, intending to come back later and save him. While Yosef is in the pit, Yehudah has him sold to a band of passing Yishmaelites. The brothers dip Yosef's special coat in the blood of a goat and show it to their father, leading him to believe that his most beloved son was devoured by a wild beast.

Yehudah marries and has three children. The eldest, Er, dies young and childless, and his wife Tamar is given in levirate marriage to the second son, Onan. Onan sins by spilling his seed and he, too, meets an early death. Yehudah is reluctant to have his third son marry her. Determined to have a child from Yehudah's family, Tamar disguises herself as a pr******te and seduces Yehudah himself. Yehudah hears that his daughter-in-law has become pregnant and orders her executed for harlotry, but when Tamar produces some personal effects he left with her as a pledge for payment, he publicly admits that he is the father. Tamar gives birth to twin sons, Peretz (an ancestor of Dovid HaMelech [King David]) and Zerach.

Yosef is taken to Egypt and sold to Potiphar, the minister in charge of Pharaoh's slaughterhouses. God blesses everything he does, and soon he is made overseer of all his master's property. Potiphar's wife desires the handsome and charismatic lad; when Yosef rejects her advances, she tells her husband that the Hebrew slave tried to force himself on her and has him thrown in prison. Yosef gains the trust and admiration of his jailers, who appoint him to a position of authority in the prison administration.

In prison, Yosef meets Pharaoh's chief butler and chief baker, both incarcerated for offending their royal master. Both have disturbing dreams, which Yosef interprets; in three days, he tells them, the butler will be released and the baker hanged. Yosef asks the butler to intercede on his behalf with Pharaoh. Yosef's predictions are fulfilled, but the butler forgets all about Yosef and does nothing for him.

Hanukkah brightens our hearts with gratitude! These incredible eight days give us a chance to reflect on past miracles and show appreciation for the blessings in our lives. There's something truly special about being with loved ones, lighting the menorah, enjoying scrumptious latkes and sufganiyot, and exchanging gifts. Hanukkah reminds us to slow down during the busy holiday season and appreciate all the big and small blessings we have.

As soon as a person gives thanks, it's like a magical veil lifts, and all the difficulties that once seemed insurmountable simply vanish. It's as if gratitude has the power to cast a warm and welcoming light on even the darkest corners of our lives. When we pause to appreciate the blessings we have, big or small, it not only shifts our perspective but also allows us to navigate challenges with greater resilience and grace.

Life can get busy and overwhelming but don't forget to prioritize your own well-being. Treat yourself with kindness and compassion, just like you would with a close friend. Take time to rest and recharge, indulge in activities that bring you joy, and don't be too hard on yourself when things don't go as planned. Remember, you deserve love, care, and inner peace. So be gentle with yourself and embrace the goodness that comes from self-care.

Parshat Vayishlach
(Bereish*t 32:4-36:43)

Yaakov (Jacob) returns to the Holy Land after a 20-year stay in Charan, and sends angel-emissaries to Esav (Esau) in hope of a reconciliation, but his messengers report that his brother is on the warpath with 400 armed men. Yaakov prepares for war, prays, and sends Esav a large gift (consisting of hundreds of heads of sheep and cattle) to appease him.

That night, Yaakov ferries his family and possessions across the Yabbok River; he, however, remains behind and encounters the angel that embodies the spirit of Esav, with whom he wrestles until daybreak. Yaakov suffers a dislocated hip but vanquishes the supernal creature, who bestows on him the name Yisroel (Israel), which means "he who prevails over the Divine."

Yaakov and Esav meet, embrace and kiss, but part ways. Yaakov purchases a plot of land near Shechem, whose crown prince — also called Shechem — abducts and rapes Yaakov's daughter Dinah. Dinah's brothers Shimon and Levi avenge the deed by killing all male inhabitants of the city after rendering them defenseless by convincing them to circumcise themselves.

Yaakov journeys on. Rochel (Rachel) dies while giving birth to her second son, Binyomin (Benjamin), and is buried in a roadside grave near Beit Lechem (Bethlehem). Reuven loses the birthright because he interferes with his father's marital life. Yaakov arrives in Chevron (Hebron), to his father Yitzchak (Isaac), who later dies at age 180 (Rivka [Rebecca] has passed away before Yaakov's arrival).

Our Parshah concludes with a detailed account of Esav's wives, children and grandchildren, and the family histories of the people of Se'ir among whom Esav settled.

An important message for the followers of Rabbi Arush's page:
Since the beginning of the Iron Swords War, the rabbi's media pages have been inundated with a constant stream of hateful comments. Our media team puts in great effort to remove and block these comments. However, there are times when users who appreciate the content of the page and the Rabbi are unfortunately exposed to inappropriate comments from our terrorist haters and sometimes even bots. We apologize for any inconvenience caused and kindly ask you to continue engaging with our posts by responding, liking, and sharing with your friends. Our tzaddik Rabbi teaches us to be grateful to the Creator for everything - whether it is good or less favorable - and we have been expressing our gratitude for the hateful reactions since the beginning of the war in Gaza.
Finally, we will unveil a secret that every media expert knows, which the ignorant commenters fail to comprehend: every response and emotion, whether positive or negative, boosts post circulation and aids in disseminating the teachings of the Torah across the globe. Hence, our detractors who seek to undermine it inadvertently assist us in spreading the joy and love for Israel among the masses.
