I thought about making coffee, I put water on gas and forgot. I saw the water was boiling such an extent that when I added the coffee it almost floated up and it all came together quickly I added a little sip of cold water on the coffee I saw the situation is easier to control and I could manage to making coffee Quietly, life could be as coffee you just need to add cold water to the hot water to make your drink easier. ן!
When was the last time you met a gypsy in Jerusalem?
When I told my daughter that I was going to a meeting with Amon the Gypsy, she asked if she was like a hunchback in Notre Dame. And the truth is yes. She is strong and beautiful and full of life and purpose. She built with her own hands a community center for the promotion of women and children and culture of Jerusalem gypsies. We were hosted by her today, several teachers through, for a meeting that really renewed for me endlessly. You are invited to visit too. N!

Our Interview for International Women's Day by Planeterra Foundation, you can find the link below to read all about our work! 🥰
March 8 may be International Women’s Day, but here at Planeterra, we needed more than one day to share stories from the amazing women we work with.
Meet Amoun, she founded Domari Society at the age of 16 and since then has committed her life to serving her community.
“Dom women are the pillars of our community, they are the pillars of change and achieving economic empowerment. I believe in order to build a strong independent society that has a clear future, I must provide the Dom women with the tools and skills to function independently in their communities and later transfer these mindsets and work ethics to their children, who are the future.”

Make a difference on International Day of Education. Help us uplift the Dom community spirit and provide access to online learning...
Apart from suffering the loss of a proper source of income, Dom parents are struggling to provide their children with smartphones or laptops, which are even beyond their capacity in ‘normal’ times. The situation is further complicated because of bad connectivity and unaffordable data plans.
⚠️Our mission right now has shifted from raising the educational level of Dom students to maintaining it. We want to make education inclusive in the face of the -19 crisis by addressing our children’s utmost needs.

The Dom community🏘 shares a unique language, it is almost like the twittering of a bird🕊, known as 'The Language of Birds' 📍in Jerusalem.
Our vocabulary is a mix of 🔘Persian, 🔘Kurdish, 🔘Turkish, 🔘Azeri, and 🔘Arabic! More surprisingly💥, two languages identify with our people, Romani and Domari. Romani is spoken by the Roma people who migrated to Europe🚶🏾♂️, and Domari is spoken by the Dom people who migrated to the Middle-East🚶🏽♀️. The native tongues of these two major communities are quite different. However, there are some similarities🔗, as both languages have identical words in common, and they understand one another to a certain point💞.
Unfortunately, our language is endangered 😔, especially in Jerusalem. Most of our young ones 👧👦only understand a corpus of commonly used words, and ⚠️they find it difficult to understand complex sentences.

🕰The history of the Domari people remains a mystery intertwined with legends. However, the Mukhtar of the Jerusalem Gypsy community, may he rest in peace, told of a legend that connects with the records of the 10th-century historian Hamza Isfahani. 🔮📚
🤴🏽The king of Iran heard about the Gypsies customs in northern India, and he wanted to see for himself. So, he sent a letter to the ruler of Northern India and asked him to send a few families of gypsies. The ruler sent him 400 families👨👩👦👦. Once they arrived in Iran, the king greeted them and gave them lands to begin a new life 🏞. He asked them to change their customs, so instead of dancing and singing, they should farm and learn to cultivate 🌾.
However, a week passed, and still, the gypsies were dancing and singing🎶. Their wandering spirit never seemed to settle down, when questioned, they said: “Nothing comes from our hands, not farming or anything else. This is our custom; this is what we're used to.”😔
❌The mission of the king failed, so the gypsies found themselves in Iraq. ⚠️Later, Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi conquests led the Gypsies to be taken as prisoners to fight with them and moved towards the Levant.
The legend ends with the Gypsies wandering and then settling in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Jerusalem, West Bank, and Gaza Strip.

Unfortunately the Domari Society of Gypsies in Jerusalem has been suspending our general activities such as the afterschool tutoring program and Domari culture experience for tourists for a while, but we are doing what we can do and what people need now in this situation. We are making colorful masks with three women from Dom community to provide poor Dom people and we are planning to sell them in the center. Many Dom people lost their work because of this situation as many people did in the world. The profit from them will be given to the women so that they could manage to live with their families!
