We’re so excited to welcome Kennedy back for her 3rd summer with Preventous! 👏
Kennedy is a kinesiologist with a background in exercise physiology, rehab, and collegiate track & field, and she’ll be supporting our lifestyle team with assessments and THAs throughout the summer. She recently completed her second year of naturopathic medical school and continues to bring such a thoughtful and well-rounded approach to patient care.
She’s been such an incredible part of the team over the past two summers, and we’re so happy to have her back with us again. 😊

🦴 Women’s bodies experience major physical and hormonal changes throughout life and those changes can impact injury risk, recovery, and long-term musculoskeletal health.
From puberty and pregnancy to menopause, each stage brings unique adaptations that deserve individualized care and attention.
Understanding these changes is an important part of prevention, rehabilitation, and healthy aging.
Women’s health is not one-size-fits-all and healthcare should reflect that 🩵
Inflammation isn’t caused by one “bad” food. It’s your overall dietary pattern that matters most. 👏
There’s a lot of nutrition misinformation online around seed oils, dairy, lectins, and nightshade vegetables, but for most people, the evidence doesn’t support these foods as inherently inflammatory. In many cases, they may even have anti-inflammatory benefits.
An anti-inflammatory approach is less about restriction and more about building a nutrient-dense, plant-forward foundation. And one of the biggest keys? Variety. Stay tuned for part 2 where we’ll talk about why dietary diversity matters and practical ways to incorporate it into your meals.

🥗 Nutrition doesn’t need to be extreme to be effective.
With so much conflicting information online, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by what “healthy eating” is supposed to look like. But the research continues to point toward the same foundations: nutrient-dense, balanced eating patterns built around variety and consistency.
For women especially, fibre and protein play a major role in supporting long-term health, energy, muscle mass, and metabolic function as we age.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s building sustainable habits that actually support your body over time 💙

🧊 Ice isn’t always the answer.
While it can help with pain, overusing it may slow down the body’s natural healing processes by limiting circulation and metabolic activity.
Inflammation after injury is not something to fear. It’s a sign that your body is doing what it’s designed to do.
The goal isn’t to eliminate swelling right away. It’s to support the healing process in a way that allows your body to recover effectively.
If you’ve always reached for ice right away, it might be time to rethink your approach.
