Don’t throw away your eggshells!! Feed them back to your flock. Eggshells are made up of approximately 95% calcium which is essential to healthy egg production in your hens.

Chickens don’t produce their own calcium but hens will self regulate their calcium intake. If you offer a supplemental calcium source they will use it when their feed isn’t meetings their calcium needs.

You do not have to bake your shells for safety. I choose to do this because it makes them easier to crush and distribute. Also I find it super satisfying to crush them 🤣

Feeding eggshells and eggs will not turn your flock into egg devouring monsters. They won’t suddenly start eating their own eggs. This is a Myth. Farmers have been feeding shells for hundreds of years as a cost free calcium supplement.

Things to note: DO not feed eggshells to young chicks - wait until they are 18-20 weeks old. Too much calcium can cause premature egg laying which can lead to complications in young pullets.

It is best to add any calcium supplement as a choice food not mixed in their feed. This way they will consume only what they need.

Ok who needs some fluffy chick cuteness in their lives?! I haven’t been advertising much because things have been chaotic but I have varying ages most of them off of heat and ready to go!

They are getting so big!! This crew is a big mixed bag of breeds and cross breeds lol sometimes I feel like a mad scientist hatching eggs 😝 I accidently got a beautiful black show girl which was a pleasant surprise!
