Check out our latest issue of Community Current!
Community Current Summer Edition I’ve had a lot of conversations about housing lately — with community partners, lenders, local leaders, neighbors, and people simply trying to figure out what affordable housing looks like in Springfield and the surrounding area. These conversations don’t always lead to answers, but they conti...

Affordable housing for generations. Kinda chic.

We’ve been saying it since 2013 - affordable housing is kinda chic.
Homes people can afford. Neighborhoods where people can stay. Homeownership that builds equity while keeping opportunity within reach for the next family. Vacant properties becoming homes again.
We think a Springfield where people can afford to live, work, raise families, and put down roots will always be in style.
This funding will help us in our work to create permanently affordable housing in Springfield. Thank you TelComm Credit Union and Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines for giving more families the opportunity of affordable homeownership!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Gabriela and Kylie! They spent two months out of their summer interning with the SCLT. We were honored to be a part of The Springfield Way program this year. 💚

Apply today! We would love to have more citizens who could give voice to diverse viewpoints and stress equitable distribution of funding.
The City of Springfield is seeking applicants for the Spring Forward SGF Citizens’ Advisory Board (CAB), a group convened to review and make recommendations for the use of the half-cent portion of a ¾-cent sales tax, referred to as Spring Forward SGF, passed in 2024. Investments from this voter-approved tax are designated for transformative capital improvement projects, community and neighborhood initiatives, and park projects.
Apply now at https://www.springfieldmo.gov/FormCenter/Boards-Commissions-5/Board-Application-Form-71. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 10.
Membership will be fixed at nine members, consistent with City Charter requirements. All members must be Springfield residents who have lived within the city limits for at least two years, be registered voters, and comply with all other requirements.
Currently the CAB has four open positions. City Council will be considering applications for those four positions along with one position for possible re-appointment.
For questions about the application process, please contact City Clerk Anita J. Cotter at [email protected] or 417-864-1651.
Applications will be reviewed by City Council's Committee of the Whole and recommendations for appointment will be forwarded to the full City Council for approval.
Our Annual Meeting was a moment to pause and celebrate everyone who makes our work possible. 🏠Thank you!

A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped us celebrate at our Annual Meeting! It was a wonderful evening to honor those who have helped not only over the last year, but over the many years the SCLT has been in the community. We recognized our outgoing board members, Leah Woods and Patricia Deck for their service and leadership; the brothers of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Missouri Eta Chapter and St. John's Chapel UCC for their time and energy in helping create homes for future SCLT families; and Bob Jones for establishing the framework of the SCLT and his dedication to affordable housing in Springfield.
Community is at the center of everything we do and we are so thankful for every single person that helps move our mission forward.
