A Wonderful Start to the School Year! 💙

We are so thankful for a wonderful first few weeks at Springfield Lutheran High School! It has been such a joy to see our students back on campus—learning, growing, building friendships, getting involved, and growing together as a school community.

As we continue into the school year, we ask our SLHS community to please keep our students, families, faculty, and staff in your prayers. Pray for a year filled with growth, joy, wisdom, strong relationships, and opportunities to grow deeper in our faith and remain rooted in Christ.

We are so grateful for each student and family who is part of SLHS and for the faculty and staff who pour into our students each day. We can’t wait to see all that God has in store for this school year!

Thunder Thrift is officially open—and we couldn't let this moment pass without recognizing the many people who helped make it possible! ⚡💙

For months, volunteers, staff, Board members, families, donors, and supporters have worked to bring the vision to life.

From the initial research and planning, to professionals volunteering their expertise and donors generously providing startup support, to loading fixtures into trailers, setting up racks and shelves, sorting and organizing merchandise, training volunteers, hanging signs, preparing for preview nights, and tackling countless details along the way—so many people have played a part every step of the way.

To everyone who has given your time, talents, resources, prayers, and encouragement: thank you. And to the volunteers who continue to serve in the store each week, welcoming shoppers, receiving donations, organizing merchandise, and so much more—your continued support is vital to Thunder Thrift. We are incredibly grateful for each of you!

And now, after months of preparation, we've had the joy of welcoming our community through the doors!

P.S. We're also grateful for our new friends at Mardel! The Lord provided a wonderful connection at just the right time: Mardel was replacing some of its retail fixtures, and they were just what we needed. We're grateful those fixtures have found a second home at Thunder Thrift—and for another example of God's provision along the way!

This year, Lutheran schools across the country are focusing on the theme “Rooted in Christ,” inviting students and families into a yearlong worship journey centered on Colossians 2:6–7:

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness”

What a beautiful reminder as we begin a new school year—to grow deeper roots in Christ, build our lives on Him, and live with hearts full of thanksgiving.
