Low Anterior Resection Syndrome (LARS) is a group of bowel-related symptoms that can occur after radiation and/or surgery for re**al cancer — during treatment, or in the months and years after. Common symptoms include frequent bowel movements, clustering, urgency, difficulty fully emptying, and difficulty with control, including leakage or incontinence.

These symptoms can significantly affect daily life, emotional well-being, and quality of life — but LARS is often underrecognized and underreported. By sharing your experience, you can help us understand what survivors need and identify ways to improve support, education, and treatment.

We're helping share a quick, anonymous survey from Drs. Cathy Eng and Niketa Vivek on behalf of the BEACON Consortium to better understand what survivors need and how to improve support, education, and treatment.

We are nearly six months out from our Global Early Onset CRC Think Tank — and the momentum is real.

What began in Barcelona with 71 members has grown to over 100 researchers, clinicians, advocates, and data scientists across 22 countries. In February 2027, this global community convenes in Washington, DC to advance two years of collaborative work, align on shared priorities, and translate science into policy and action.
