You don’t have to understand energy to notice when something shifts.
Spandana is a practice of gentle rocking, shaking, pausing and noticing the subtle vibration that remains.
It’s less about “doing yoga poses” and more about experiencing movement from the inside out.
Come curious. You don’t have to believe anything. Just notice what you feel.
Spandana at Balance Yoga
A different kind of practice.

What does confidence have to do with your core?
Maybe more than you think.
The third chakra is traditionally associated with confidence, personal power, and our ability to take action.
Physically, it also brings our attention right to the center of the body.
And that's where things get interesting to me. 😊
Your “core” isn't just your abs.
Your diaphragm, abdominal wall, pelvic floor, spine, and breath all work together to help create support through your center.
When that system is working well, we can feel more organized and supported in movement.
Does that prove there's an invisible energy wheel spinning around in your belly?
Nope. 😂
But I don't think we need to believe that to find something useful in this ancient framework.
That's what I'm exploring in this week's 𝘽𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙈𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙘 𝙉𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙨: 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙏𝙝𝙞𝙧𝙙 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙠𝙧𝙖: 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩, 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙛𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙋𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧.

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵, 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗻𝗲𝗲𝘇𝗲?
Feel urgency, pressure, tension, or just have no idea what your pelvic floor is supposed to be doing?
Your pelvic floor needs more than strength. It needs to know how to breathe, move, engage and let go.
Join Sarah Hocking, PTA, and me this Saturday for our Pelvic Floor Workshop at Balance Yoga 217.
We’ll explore how the pelvic floor works with your breath, core, hips, spine, feet and body mechanics, plus simple movements you can practice at home.

I often tell my students to think about the body a little like a car.
If your car goes out of alignment, you may not notice a huge problem right away.
But over time, the tires can begin to wear unevenly. The steering may change. Other parts of the car start taking on stress they were not designed to handle.
Our bodies can do something similar.
The way we sit, stand, walk, carry things, compensate for an old injury or repeatedly favor one side can create movement patterns over time.
And because your nervous system is incredibly good at learning what you repeat, those patterns can eventually start to feel completely normal.
That is one reason I teach alignment-focused yoga and body mechanics.
Not because your body needs to be perfectly straight.
But because sometimes changing how you move can change how your body feels.
Your body is adaptable.
And sometimes the first step is simply noticing what it has learned.
If you’ve ever wondered whether the way you move could be contributing to how you feel, that’s exactly the kind of thing we explore at Balance Yoga.

“I 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗜 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝗴𝗮.”
Nope. 😊
You don't need to get more flexible first.
You don't need to get stronger first.
And you definitely don't need to know what you're doing before you walk through my door.
In fact, I LOVE teaching beginners.
When you're new, we get to start from the ground up. You learn how to use your body instead of trying to force it into a shape. You learn what you're supposed to feel, what you're NOT supposed to feel, and why we're doing what we're doing.
That's yoga.
Not touching your toes.
I wrote more about why beginners often thrive at Balance Yoga in this week's B𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀.

Your pelvic floor does NOT work by itself.
It works as part of a much bigger system that includes your breath, diaphragm, abdominal wall, hips, posture, and the way you manage pressure inside your body.
That means pelvic floor health isn't always as simple as:
“Just do Kegels.”
Sometimes a pelvic floor needs strength.
Sometimes it needs to learn how to relax.
And sometimes we need to look beyond the pelvic floor altogether and pay attention to what the rest of the body is doing.
That's what I'm talking about in this week's 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀.
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗲𝗯𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗴: https://balanceyoga217.com/post/pelvic-floor-yoga-more-than-kegels
And if you'd like to explore this in person, join us:
𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁 & 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱: 𝗬𝗼𝗴𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗰 𝗙𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿.
I'll be joined by pelvic floor specialist Sarah Hocking, PTA, for education and movement designed to help you better understand and support your pelvic floor.
