For decades, fire station design centered on apparatus, response times and operational efficiency. What it often overlooked was the human element — the firefighter. Today, that is changing.
Departments recognize that the built environment directly influences sleep, mental health, physical readiness and long-term resilience. If you are considering building a new station, or rehabbing and existing station, download this E-book from FireRescue1 to learn more!

Today we celebrate the mascots who help make public safety education memorable, engaging, and fun for people of all ages.
From Smokey Bear teaching wildfire prevention, to Woodsy Owl promoting environmental stewardship, to Sparky the Fire Dog sharing life-saving fire safety messages, mascots have been trusted ambassadors for generations. They turn important lessons into lasting memories and help communities stay safer and stronger.
A special shout-out to our own four-legged ambassador, State Fire Dog Norman, who reminds us that sometimes the best safety messages come with a wagging tail and a friendly face.
Thank you to all the mascots who inspire, educate, and serve communities every day. Your impact reaches far beyond a costume or character—you help save lives.
