In an effort to make driving safer in Will County, Rep Anthony DeLuca advanced a much needed plan today that would require the Illinois Department of Transportation to conduct a road safety assessment of the 10 most hazardous intersections under state jurisdiction in Will County south of Interstate 80.
In this area, we have experienced a significant increase in vehicle traffic, especially trucks, due to rapid growth in logistic infrastructure.
"It's important we conduct these assessments to address intersection safety efficiency and effectively, " DeLuca said.
"We're listening to the concerns of residents and local officials, and we must be sure our investments in roadways provide the safest possible experience for families across our community."
The measure unanimously passed the Illinois House of Representatives with bipartisan support. It now moves to the Governor for final approval.

*DWSS Youth Lobby Day*
Great opportunity for students from the Chicago Southland to visit the Capitol, meet with legislators, and advocate for issues impacting our communities.
When asked year after year why I continue to fight hard to restore LGDF, the Local Government Distributive Fund, it's because the reduction in funding for municipalities across Illinois is huge.
*The 80th District numbers below reflect the funding loss since LGDF was "Temporarily" reduced in 2011*
In the Governor's 2026-2027 budget, a further reduction of LGDF is proposed.
LGDF funding helps reduce the municipal portion of your Property Tax Bill and helps fund critical municipal services such as police and fire.
Contact your legislator and ask them to make restoring LGDF a priority.
Thank you!
