Congratulations to our April Athlete of the Month, Samantha Bryant! We are so proud of you! 🥳🤩

1. What do you enjoy most about being a member at CrossFit Silverback?
I like how the workout is different every day, and I like the coaches making sure people have correct form, and that each workout is adjustable for skill level.

2. How did you find CrossFit Silverback?
John (husband) found CFSB when we decided we needed to join a gym, I would have never looked at a CrossFit gym.

3. What was your first workout at CFSB? How did you feel after?
I think the first workout had snatches, and it was
terrible and I thought I would never come back.....but I did appreciate how the coach actually “coached” me, and made sure that my form was somewhat correct and had me adjust some things. I have a long history of ballet and proper form is EVERYTHNG…..we tried out two other gyms, and basically there was no reason for them to even have a coach because they did not help with anything, so ultimately we came back to Silverback, instead of just watching video workouts in our garage.

4. What is your favorite WOD or lift?
I like deadlifts, rowing, maybe some lunges

5. What motivates you? How has CrossFit changed you?
I am getting stronger compared to when I started, and I feel like my endurance for cardio is increasing, so definitely notice some changes happening.

6. What is something we might be surprised to know about you?
I usually try to add a little adventure excursion when
we take a family vacation. I have completed a Via Ferrata (absolutely terrifying), I have been ice climbing (with crampons and ropes and a weird creepy guide), and now my kids joke that they have a near death experience every time I plan something. (last trip was white water rafting with a 15 foot drop where we all totally fell out of the raft).

Congratulations to our March Athlete of the Month- HIIT athlete, Sharon Bailey!!
We are so proud of your efforts!👊🏻👏🏼🤩

1. How did you find CrossFit Silverback?

I discovered CrossFit through Coach Kelle, who was my daughter’s school counselor last year. We became friends, and I confided in her about needing help to lose weight and start working out again. She was very encouraging and convinced me to try her class to see if it would fit my needs. Just like that, I was hooked!

2. Tell us about your first day at HIIT? How does that compare to where you are now?

I remember my first day as if it were yesterday. I struggled to catch my breath while doing step-ups on the smallest box.
Now, I can use the higher boxes and have the endurance to perform these moves, as well as all the other exercises we do!

3. Tell us about a moment you felt most proud of yourself during a workout.

Wow! I have had many moments that I am proud of and I am sure I will continue to experience as I grow with each workout.
However, when I finally learned to do the barbell squat correctly, it was a significant achievement. Every time I performed it well, Coach Kelle added more weights, and I was able to complete the lifts successfully! 4. What motivates you to keep coming back to HIIT?
The RESULTS!! I feel so much better physically and mental! An added bonus, of course, is the relationships and friendships I have formed through the class. We are each other’s biggest supporters.

5. What movements do you like best to see in a workout?
My honest answer, love how we change it up. I use to do a program at home on my own and I burned out on it. Coach Kelle keeps us on our toes changing it up which keeps class exciting.

6. What is something people may not know about you?

That I am an introvert! No one in my class believes me...but it was their love and support that has made me so comfortable to be at the gym with them!

Congratulations to Renee Rea for your recognition of February Athlete of the Month! Your consistency through out the years is inspirational! 🤩

“I began my journey with CF in July of 2010 after a month of Judi Harmon “convincing “ me of how “wonderful and fun” crossfit is. Well I tried it and now fourteen and a half years later I still show up to CF because of the sense of accomplishment I always feel after completing each WOD, my friends that “suffer” through the workouts with me and the fantastic coaches we have.
The sense of community is so much a part of the draw for me to continue with CF.
I had always participated in some kind of exercise throughout my life; running, biking, aerobics, yoga, etc., but it wasn’t until started CF that I actually looked forward to working out and that I noticed real changes in my body. I could see and feel my body getting stronger. I saw real world benefits of CF during snow skiing and with riding in the MS 150. I had done both before CF and then when I completed these activities after going to CF it was amazing at how much easier they were due to increased strength and endurance.
I keep coming back to CF year after year because I never
“master” it. Every WOD is different, and I like that it targets all parts of the body. Secondly, now that I am in my 60’s my goal is to stay strong, flexible, and agile so I can keep up with my 8 grandchildren and more to come
One of my proudest moments in my CF journey was when I was able to do pull-ups without an band and do them in WODs consistently. Whenever I have injuries or setbacks CF is great because I can modify any movement or workout and still get the benefit of being there.
If I created a “Renee” WOD it would be 5 rounds of 250 meters rows followed with 10-15 thrusters and a 1:1 ratio of rest between rounds.”
