📣After much consideration and discussions with local meteorologist, we have decided to postpone tonight's event 80's Night with 97.3 Joe FM until next Thursday, June 20th 😞
With the risk of severe storms between 4 - 6pm and high winds we have to make this tough decision. Please understand that the amount of prep and people involved, this is a large endeavor to undertake and we don't take this decision lightly. The safety of everyone is most important! Thank you for understanding!
We are pleased announce the pickleball courts at Olson Park have been repaired and are now open!

EMPTY medication bottles can be ♻ recycled.
If you have old medication please don’t put that in your recycling. Only empty bottles should be tossed in the recycling. There is a medication disposal program that is offered through the Saginaw County Health Department - SCHD for Saginaw County residents. Under the free program, both prescription and non-prescription unwanted/leftover medications can be dropped at any of 13 different law enforcement locations across the county for safe disposal, as well as at the SCDPH. Curbside yard waste collection for 14 MMWA member communities begins April 1, 2024.
✅Residents can collect grass clippings, sod without dirt, twigs (less than two inches in diameter), leaves, and other yard vegetation.
🚫Things you should avoid are root balls, soil, stumps, tree trunks, large shrubs, rocks, or bushes.
Use between a 20-35 gallon can with handles, weighing no more than 50 pounds, labeled with a yard waste sticker OR a paper lawn and leaf bag. Remember communities that have carts should place their materials at least 3 feet away from their trash and recycling carts. Need stickers? 🤔 Call us (989) 781-9555.

We 💙💚 seeing all our residents ♻!
Residents that live in a MMWA member community that is serviced by WM should place ALL recycling loose into the MMWA cart with the green lid only. Boxes should be flattened and placed inside the cart.
WM drivers are tagging and leaving recycling outside the cart. While we know that it may seem silly for a resident to get an item tagged (like a box 😉) but not picked up when it is just as easy to grab the item, there is a reason behind it, to educate our residents on how to properly prepare their recycling.
Soon you will see new recycling trucks that use an automated side loader, otherwise known as ASL truck, which will grab your MMWA cart and lift it up the side of the truck and then is dumped directly into the box and compacted immediately after each dump. The ♻ driver will no longer have a Curotto bucket to dump extra recycling into, this is why it is important for all your recycling to be inside your MMWA recycling cart. The new ASL trucks should also reduce litter and debris from the recycling truck.
If you are consistently using your personal recycling bins in addition to your cart you should purchase an additional cart here: https://www.recyclemotion.org/carts. Don’t forget if you have more recycling or lots of extra cardboard you can drop it off to one of our two public recycling drop off locations found at the bottom of the page here: https://www.recyclemotion.org/recycling

THANK YOU!! 💚💙 Mid Michigan Waste Authority is overwhelmed by how enthusiastically our residents and community partners supported our Holiday Light Recycling Drive, which wrapped up Jan. 15. Between our eighteen Saginaw County locations and one Gratiot County location, we collected 2,992 pounds of lights! That's a whole lot of lights that have been diverted from the landfill. 🙌 As an added bonus, when we turned the lights into Rifkin Scrap Iron and Metal Co. for recycling, we received a $748.00 check that will be donated to the CAN Council! Special thanks to Brady Township, Bridgeport Township, Can Council, Carrollton Township, Frankenmuth City, Freeland Lights, GM Saginaw Metal Casting Operations, James Township, Kochville Township, Lakefield Township, Richland Township, City of Saginaw Government, Saginaw Charter Township, Spaulding Township, St. Charles District Library, Thomas Township, Township of Wheeler, and City of Zilwaukee for providing us a spot for collection bins.
