Thank you to all who worked hard to secure a generous donation of 2 semi-trailer loads of bottled water for our area's first responders.

Congratulations to our newest firefighter, Olvein Ruiz, on his graduation from the Saginaw County Fire Academy and on passing both the written and practical tests for his Firefighter 1 & 2 certification.

Today is a day that changed many peoples' lives in many different ways. Even though we have gone back to "business as usual," please take a minute to remember those lives lost on this day 22 years ago. Dont just remember the selfless first responders, but also the citizens who went to work like any other day, who climb aboard a flight like they've done many times. Be mindful of your comments to people today who may still be grieving or have to live with a terrible memory and just be kind to one another.

Also, if you can find the time to help out your local fire department please do so. We are all struggling for people and when you call 911, and there is no one to respond, then what?

God Bless the USA!

This afternoon the department was dispatched for a structure fire in the 1300 block of Prueter St. E-3 arrived on scene to find a single story home with heavy smoke and flames showing. Mutual aid was requested from Saginaw City and Bridgeport fire departments. The occupants were able to escape the home without injuries thanks to working smoke alarms. Thank you to both Bridgeport and Saginaw firefighters for your much needed help on this very hot day. Also, thank you to Mobile Medical Response for standing by for rehab. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

*****UPDATED 6/26*****

This goes for our Fire Department also. We are not selling any shirts! Dont buy into this latest scam and possibly lose your money or private information.

A heads up for our community!

There have been reports of text messages being received by numerous people advertising shirts for sale from our Fire Department and various other Fire Departments. At this time we are not currently selling any shirts, so we urge you to ignore these messages as we believe them to be spam messages. Always verify information you receive to prevent a breach of your information or losing any money. Please share this information with your elderly family, friends, or neighbors who may not have Facebook to help protect them.

Yesterday morning and evening, your Buena Vista Firefighters trained on pumping, drafting, and relay pumping. We'd like to thank Wirt Stone Dock for the use of their facilities to perform these tasks. The site was great for this type of training. Secondly, but not lastly, we'd like to thank Blumfield FD for coming out to help facilitate this training as most of our coverage area is covered by hydrants so we don't perform drafting operations very often. They had all the right equipment for the job and very knowledgeable staff to help teach our staff the necessary skills to perform a successful drafting operation!

The Buena Vista Fire Department would like to say "Thank You" to Bond of Brotherz, General Towing, Lehr Farms and Blue Triton for the donation of a pallet of bottled water to our department, as well as, many other departments around the area.

We post with a heavy heart that on 4-26-23, long time member of Blumfield Twp Fire Dept, John Beythan passed away unexpectedly. John was an active member of our Dept for many years. He enjoyed attending the Saginaw County Association meetings, and offering help to anyone that needed it. His stories, humor, and laughter will be missed.

Sunday the 19th of March your Buena Vista Firefighters were dispatched to a Commercial Structure Fire at Abele's Greenhouse. Please say a prayer tonight for the Flint Fire Department who lost one of their own in the line of duty. Below is the official statement released by their Union President.

February 25, 2023

City of Flint Fire Department Line of Duty Death

It is with regret and sorrow that the members of Flint Firefighters Local 352 announce the Line of Duty Death of Apparatus Operator Ricky Hill Jr. Ricky has been a member of the Flint Fire Department for nearly16 years. We will inform you as soon as possible on the circumstances surrounding his passing.

We ask that you keep Ricky’s wife Amira and their family in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with this unspeakable tragedy.

President Kendrick has been in close communication with our MPFFU and Flint Fire Administration.

As funeral arrangements become available, we will pass those along.

Please be mindful of our Brothers and Sisters privacy at this time.

Any questions can be directed to [email protected].

Matthew Sahr , MPFFU President

Thoughts and Prayers to the Firefighters Family.

Nickolas Kendrick, L352 Flint President

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Paw Paw Fire Department. Last night during a routine power line down call, a member was electrocuted, and succumb to his injuries at the hospital. This is why it is so important to treat any line down as a live line down.

Our thoughts are with all the First Responders, Students and staff of Michigan State University as they deal with this terrible tragedy occurring. No matter our preference of schools Michiganders will always come together to push through!

Your Buena Vista Firefighters would once again like to thank Harbor Freight for their generous donation of $300. This Donation went towards some new tools to keep our trucks looking great and running even better for our residents! Thank you again Harbor Freight!

Come out and enjoy some great food and support local BV restaurants.

Join us on Monday, February 27th to experience Food for The Soul ‼️‼️ Don't miss out, tickets go on sale next week 🎟
