Up next are two slide band versions of the 3 and 4 weight anniversary rods. Both rods feature the same components and build designs- McFarland fiberglass blanks, Snake Brand Guides, beautiful agates by both Struble Manufacturing and Joe Arguello, Lemke slide band dark nickel seat with cork insert, and custom rod bags and tubes. Earlier this year I decided to list a few blanks from my personal inventory as available for builds. This Tom Morgan fiberglass 8' 5 weight made the list and was quickly picked up by my long time customer and friend Dave Pyle. This blank was part of an original batch of blanks I received from Tom in 2014 and was rolled by Kerry Burkheimer.
The build features a stabilized burled maple insert with Lemke hardware, Snake Brand guides, silk wraps, and a custom rod sock and tube.
This beautiful rod will be right at home with Dave as he spends most of his time chasing trout in Idaho, Oregon, and Montana!

Developed in 2017 with longtime friend Dave Pyle and Mike McFarland, this custom taper delivers a full flexing, moderate action with a firm butt section that will cast dries but also nymphs, and small streamers. After two successful limited runs, it returns as part of the anniversary series.
Features a translucent brown blank, Snake Brand guides, Struble agate stripper, red and black silk wraps, 6” Fenwick reverse half wells flor grip, shop turned alligator juniper or padauk insert, and Lemke LC7 down locking (NOS) hardware. After months of planning and work, I’m excited to introduce the first rods in the Flat Creek Rods 15th Anniversary Series. The 3-weight release begins the celebration, with the 4-weight and 5-weight models scheduled to roll out later this week and next.

In 2008, after building several Lamiglas glass rods, I discovered Mike McFarland’s Spruce Creek blanks and ordered 2 7’ 3 weights—sparking my love for building and fishing glass. To honor that beginning, the first anniversary rods use Mike’s evolved Spruce Creek taper: smooth, balanced, and full flexing. An ideal small stream rod, it handles dries and dry/dropper rigs with ease.
