Did you know 2026 NASCAR Local Racing Series Division 1 (unofficial) national champion Joey Tanner ran a few West Series races in 2019?

This last weekend was so special in so many ways! Joey won his 15th race of the season, 12th at Willamette Speedway, 3rd 1-5 series Championship and back to back with the Silver Bullet with Nikki Gamell, 6th Willamette Speedway track Championship and secured his first ever Nascar Western Region and National Division 1 Championship! Words cannot describe the emotions and thoughts going through Joey's mind over all this other than how extremely grateful and humbled he is to be in the position he is in today as a local race car driver! A big shout out to Michael Richardson and Dave Walters and Jacque Walters for the elevated purse this weekend! Teaming up with Darren Coffell has been the greatest thing in Joey's racing career! Joey is very grateful to have such a great man take such a big chance on him both financially and mentally giving up his own racing career to allow Joey to continue his! Thank you to Joeys beautiful wife Ashlie Tanner for believing in him and not only allowing himself and Darren to take over family summers but also being a super mom with their 3 wonderful children! Thank you to Alexis Coffell, Chris FitzJohn and Dick Gummus for sacrificing so much to make this dream team what it is today, you 3 are the backbone of the #46 team! We are officially done racing in the NW we will now turn our racing attention to the Gateway Dirt Nationals in St. Louis, MO in December and the Wild West Shootout in Casa Grande, AZ in January!

Weekend Recap from Southern Oregon Speedway:
Friday night we started off qualifying P2 out of 22 cars, started 4th in the heat and finished P2. Started P6 in the main and ran a strong 2nd to Collen Winebarger. Saturday night once again qualified P2 out of 21. Started P4 in the heat and won (via winner failing droop). Started outside pole and led half the race then got passed but eventually got back by our buddy Collen Winebarger again in a hard fought race to pick up the Win! This was our teams 4th win for the I-5 Silver Bullet Late Model Series in 2026 and 13th overall stretching across 4 tracks! Thank you to our fans, crew, family and marketing partners! We will be back in action this weekend at Willamette Speedway in Lebanon,Or.

Weekend Racing Recap from Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma,WA: Friday night qualified P3, got a flat in the heat resulting in a last place finishing spot, started the main 9th and was able to make it back to finish 3rd. Saturday myself and Chris FitzJohn spent most the day completely changing the entire set up and it was well worth it! Went P1 in qualifying, P4 to P2 in the heat, then went P3 to the Win in the main for our teams 3rd I-5 Silver Bullet Late Model Series win of 2026 and the 9th of the season! We were missing our captain and team owner Darren Coffell on Saturday as he was fighting some illnesses but felt good to get him the win! Thank you to my wife Ashlie Tanner for always believing in me and my racing and being my rock and our families rock by taking care of the kids every weekend when it can be a handful at times! Thank you to Dick Gummus and Alexis Coffell for doing so much for me and Darren to keep the team going and motivated every week! Big News! Joey and the Darren Coffell Racing team are officially invited and will be attending the 2026 Gateway Dirt Nations for the 2nd consecutive year! This event will be December 3rd-6th in St. Louis, MO. Thank you to the Sommer Family both Emma and Cody for allowing us to showcase NW Racing once again!

Last night Joey ran Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Or. The team set fast time, won the heat race from 6th and won a hard fought, challenging race from the 10th starting position! This marks Joey's 7th win in 8 races so far this year and still undefeated in the #46 Darren Coffell owned Rocket Chassis!
