Today The Summit Project remembers the life and service of Army CPT Daniel J. Tranchemontagne, 32, of Portland, ME, who died on this day in 2004 of a non-combat cause at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Daniel was assigned as a staff officer with the 368th Engineers in Kuwait until he was diagnosed with an illness and evacuated to Walter Reed. Thank you Daniel for your service and sacrifice.

Daniel was assigned as a staff officer with the 368th Engineers in Kuwait until he was diagnosed with an illness and evacuated to Walter Reed.

John R. “Jay” Brainard III, 26, of Newport and Atkinson, Maine; assigned to 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, Ansbach-Katterbach, Germany; who died on this day in 2012 in Kabul, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his AH-64 Apache helicopter was shot down from enemy fire. Thank you Jay for your service and sacrifice.
Army Capt. Also killed was Army Chief Warrant Officer Five John C. Pratt.

He died on this day in 2008 in Kushamond, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a non-combat-related incident. Thank you Justin for your service and sacrifice.
